How to get this kitten working again??
After 22h of download it FINALY made it to 100% and now this!?!?!

Whenever I press “play” screen just flickers and window frame appears on top my screen where I can clearly see it says “Guild Wars 2”.
It just flickers and music plays in background. Screen is black under the window frame.
When I try to open task manager it takes 2minutes to load it, and than it says “not responding”.

I’ve read on other topic that some guys are having troubles with playing in fullscreen. I played on fullscreen before so that might be a problem but I can’t make it windowed again cuz’ I can’t even enter the game.

Seriously… worst patching I’ve saw in years. Good job… you really have shaken the confidence of your community before your first expansion.

How the hell can I trust you that expansion download wont give me even bigger issues.
And I was planing on buying it, now I’m not so sure :P

Same here GW2.exe downloads a tiny bit and then nothing. Just hangs there. This happened last night also. I thought it was just that I was updating windows at the same time. Nothing running this morning and same thing. Running GW2.exe as administrator doesn’t help either. I just got a new computer and would love to see how GW2 looks on it

Same, except my client is stuck at “Initializing…” after seeming to download the patch.

I have the same issue.
Right click on your gw2 shortcut and after the “C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” put the “-windowed”

Target : “C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -windowed
Apply and ok. Launch gw2.

Your game will now launch in window mode.

Now when I tried again it’s stuck at initialzing.

And my friend has 8bgRAM, i7 3.3Ghz, 2GB GPU and on low settings he has misserable 22fps. Knowing that fact, I’m not even sure if I want to enter the game since I used to have 30fps.

I’ll probably have 4-5fps now.

Well i can login but then i get disconnected 2 seconds later. then can’t log in and says firewall etc Even though firewall is off. Worked just fine before the update. Wireless is working just fine for everything else.

Okay, I’m typing this on behalf of my wife. Here’s what happened and what now happens.

She was playing, logged out to change characters, and the game crashed. She didn’t get a chance to type in any information before her computer crashed outright.

She rebooted, opened the launcher, logged in, clicked play. The game seems to go into the loading process, but doesn’t come up at all. It vanishes from the task bar, the mouse starts flickering, changes to the mouse pointer for the game, then outright freezes her computer. If she had music going, it would still run flawlessly. Trying to open task manager fails. It comes up, but you can’t click anything. You can’t Alt-Tab to anything else. We MUST hard boot the machine once the crash takes hold.

What I have done to try to repair this is the following:

I have made certain ALL drivers are up to date on her computer.

I have tried the -repair that this thread offers as a solution. 3 times. That fails.

I have tried finding local.dat. That file does not exist on her machine. In addition to this, I have tried editing the GW2 folder so it isn’t Read Only, and that doesn’t seem to do anything good.

The only thing I haven’t tried is a full on reinstall.

Let me be clear for you all. My wife opens the client, logs in, clicks play, crashes. Still on her desktop, no black screen issue. No blue screen issue. Just a seemingly minimized then vanishing game on the task bar, a flickering mouse pointer, and a system freeze that forces a hard reboot of her computer. Please help if you can.

Adding to this I get the same problem when switching Render Sampling settings in fullscreen (from Subsample to Native.)
I can still run any graphic setting if I adjust them in windowed mode and switch back to fullscreen. It only bugs out if I adjust the settings while in fullscreen.

Only the Render Sampling setting is affected.

The bug has also happened a couple times after loading into a new map.

still no fix all day, not even an occasional patch to give us hope; i’m running xp btw, are we all xp users? (i think Echo has a different problem with his windows 7)

Has GW2 ever crashed like this due to an update before?

Can’t say it’s helped me in any way yet. Am on the mac version btw. As for hard crashes, that problem only plagues me with tp2, if you are fullscreen and the tp is broken, closing the tp crashes the game, the music persists however but I can’t shrink the game so I always minimise it now if the tp fails as a precaution. For some unknown senseless reason as of september the processes to allow the tp to work has become vital for GW2 to run, if that process breaks the game breaks, if you are lucky the game will have a failed to create browser view message and at least that closes the client.

I’ve never had problematic patching myself, sure patches often have problems from GW2 but the downloading was always smooth for me, Tomerant, 22hrs?! Ouch, took me 4hrs total, 1-2 was to get that elusive last file…

Hi, My problem is a bit different. GW2 worked fine until the update on the 16 march 2015, after that update whenever I click play it brings me to the full screen loading screen and when it starts to play the program starts to flicker.
I have to log out of windows using CTRL +ALT +DELETE to get back to normal windows.

Go to GW2 proprieties and see if any thing has change i.e the windows it is running on. Hope this helps.

I got the same problem and the “windowed” mode didn’t worked for me…i got no proprieties checked and still the game is not working…the mouse just flickers and the game is not responding….

it seems a lot is happening with the other players. but on my case, just after the characters screen is loaded, the game shuts down and a pop up screen says “A serious error…”. Am i the only one getting this error?

I keep getting the “not responding” problem randomly while playing ever since the 16th patch, to keep missing out on loot and credit because of this issue is really starting to ruin the game for me.

This is the exact same issue I’m having.

Bug happens if I switch from windowed to a fullscreen resolution that is different from my desktop resolution.

Well this makes it run, but it doesn’t actually get rid of the issue. This is more of a work-around.
