I would understand if hair would dissapear if you were wearing a massive helm or a hood, but I just crafted my Heavy ascended helm for my charr and I noticed something really stupid… the crown, even though it’s on my forehead, hides all my hair.
Really there should be someone checking hair styles and how they would match with certain helms so this situation NEVER happens, it’s just really frustrating.
I guess the only solution is to wear invisible helms on a charr

Huh, you make a good point. We know it can be done because everyone wearing masks aren’t all bald. Hope it works out for you.

I don’t know. The same thing happened all through the years of GW1. It may be difficult to implement, because each ‘crown’ would need to come with every hairstyle attached, so they would need to make a lot of different ‘crowns’. Or whatever headpiece.
Masks cover a different part of the head, nothing to have to animate, I guess.

Make total sense and would be a pain to do. But, The HoM ice crown does allow your hair style while it’s visibly equipped. Maybe it all has to do with the placement as you said with the masks. If the placement is too far back on the head, the hair disappears kind of deal. Or, it could also be that people may have complained about clipping and they wanted to avoid those complains. Who knows except for the team that worked on it.
