Hi ,

I have a problem with Hidden Arcana with the last achievement, Exposed Weakness: Redux. I did the whole instance already 3 times today… First time I could not defeat the last boss alone without transfering any boon (guardian, aegis :/) So I got some help and when we finished the boss, I still had the yellow buff, but didn’t get the achievement. This happend both times and also to one of my guild. This is REALLY frustrating, because it took so much time to finish this two times and still no achievement. We took part in the fight but kept away from the vortex crystals. Is there a bug? Or did we do something wrong? -.- I don’t want to keep doing this for the rest of my life. I am really starting to hate this, but I want my luminescent carapax gear

Well, first of all, you’re supposed to use the vortex crystals so you don’t spend an hour in there ticking away at the boss. Secondly, the color buff doesn’t factor into Exposed Weakness: Redux; the only boons that matter are the standard boons (aegis, swiftness, might, fury, etc.). So, you and whoever you’re with just need to make sure you don’t have a boon on you (other than the one you get from the lights) when you go to the vortex crystal.

And, in case you didn’t know, there are motes next to the bosses so you don’t have to repeat the entire instance again if you mess up an achievement.

With the yellow buff i did mean the achievement buff, which disappears when you transfer a boon. We had two other members from our guild with us. They used the vortex crystals so that we didn’t have to take the risk transfering a boon. We didn’t use the mote, because we thought we may get the achievement when we are back with ogden. Since we still had that yellow buff telling us we didn’t transfer a boon and normally the achievement shoul be gained. That is why we thought it might be buged.

Hm. Well, when my husband and I did this together, we were both able to get it at the same time; we were both interacting with the vortex crystals, though. So, it could be a case where you have to do the vortex crystals (or at least one or two of them) yourself to get the credit. Some other LS achievements work that way. Were you the instance owner each time? If so, maybe try having one of your friends be the instance owner to see if you get it? If that still doesn’t work, you might have to go unlock achievements on another character without the boon problem. :\

Yes I was the owner, so we will try that tomorrow. The thought that we would have to hit the crystals came to me too, but the other ment they got it without :S But maybe they changed that. Any recomondations which class would be best for this?

Well, I went through most of the LS chapters on most of my level 80s. The ones I had the easiest time with personally were my necro and warrior; I did the achievements on my necro, I believe, since there was far less of a chance of her getting boons to transfer. Mesmer is sadly kind of bad for that instance because clones and phantasms immediately die in that big aoe during certain portions. Ranger would be a decent choice.
