Gw2, is using way to much of my cpu, is there anyway to fix this I lowered the graphics options to “low” yet I still hear my computers fans going crazy. Is there a way for it to take less CPU usage?

Also when the CPU usage goes really high it makes the game screen go black.

So you have a system with a CPU that can’t be loaded more than 50%… ?

You can use the graphics options to limit the game to 30 frames per second, and you can probably also force the game to run on a single core (assuming you have a multi-core CPU), which will lower it even more.

But why not simply buy quieter fans?

How do I make it so it uses only 1 CPU, I have:

Amd Phenmon II six core processor.

Open Task Manager, go to the processes tab, find GW2.exe, right-click and select “set affinity”. It will probably make the game much slower, though (less FPS).

If the computer is overheating, that sounds more like an airflow or hardware problem than a software bug.

You can do several things to limit the CPU usage — restrict the CPUs, change the priority, futz with graphics options, video card settings, etc, aye, but the consequence is you’ve limited CPU usage, a lower quality gaming experience awaits.
