Yup, also reported 2 times to support, in game and through the support web interface. An acknowledgement would go a long way, especially now that achievement leader boards are in play.
With the introduction of the leaderboards, I thought it about time to finish off my hints and get +10 achievement points. I needed 3 hints: the mesmer, guardian, and engineer F skills. So I created one of each character, played the introduction, made sure to use the F skills, got the hint ticked for each (so now all hints are ticked), but stuck on 82/83 hints in the achievements, like everyone else here.
It’s frustrating, as those 10 pts could push me up over 10 places in the leaderboard rankings, to near the top 600.
Have you guys tried making a new character to re-do certain hints? Be certain to actually click on the hints boxes once they appear. Maybe triggering one hint could complete a missing one. I had mine stuck at 79/83, but I was only missing 3 (mailbox, Mesmer, & engineer). Once I got my mailbox full, I had 81/83. Then I completed another, but it still said 81/83… Finally I got my last hint completed and suddenly, it registered 83/83 and I got the achieve. It seems there is some odd error with tallying, maybe retriggering a few of them could help it to count the ones it missed before.
Hey, you don’t have it now, what’s taking a few minutes to create a new character and running them into pvp for a few and use a treb, filling their mailbox with messages from payers (must have ZERO game messages in that box, delete them all!!! Only player messages will do it), or a quick visit to WvW. It won’t hurt to try and get them to re-trigger.

I have tried that, didnt work unfortunatly, still stuck at 82/83.
Would be great if we could get some ackowledgement of this bug from the devs.
Tried redoing several of the hints on my characters as well. No improvement. I wish I knew which hints were stuck on my account. It’d also be nice to be able to reset hints, I’ve seen that in other games. I’d totally do this just to get past this annoying…bug?
Recently noticed this on mine to, Im having trouble with the PVP returning to lobby Hint and the Trebuchet as ive done them multiple times and its not working.
I’ve been keeping my eye out for this bug, and it’s affecting me as well. The only things I was missing are a couple of class skills and the PvP hints. For some reason I already had 5/7 PvP Hints marked despite never stepping foot in there before today, and my hint count was also off by 5. After going in and learning the two missing hints (F to Finish Them and Trebuchet use), neither of them incremented my Hint Achievement tracker either. It seems that PvP hints specifically are broken.
A friend of mine also had this bug and it didnt seem to fix itself until they added new hints, as we have had a lack of response from a dev, i guess we can only hope they add new hints soon and that will fix it for us.
Same here — 82/83, everything ticked. Been like this since October, and I’ve filed multiple bug reports. (At one point I knew which one didn’t actually increment the counter, and filed that in my bug reports, but I’ve long since forgotten which one it was.)

This has been bugged for over 7 months, basically since this was added in the game. Some people have been lucky enough to get 83/83 but i am also stuck at 82/83.
The only thing missing is Laurels for me after i have completed my daily and spent laurels over 60 times.
And you know it, because you’re working for ANet, right? >.>
I know HOW Arenanet works. It has been pointed, they adressed it months ago. It hasn’t been fixed yet, despite being very obvious and involving something they spent resources in (the achievement rankings). This means they looked into it, didn’t seem easy to fix, and stimated that the resources and effort are not worth it. And it will remain like this, we’ll bump this thread after every patch without fix for some more months, and eventually we will give up. If it was profitable content, or an exploitable issue (taking away the profit) this would’ve been fixed right away. But 8 months later, here we are.
Wow this is still not fixed? It’s been so long since I’ve checked, I had assumed the problem had been solved.
I guess it’s not the worst bug in the game, though. I still think that’s right-click targeting/target loss.

just weighing in again, im amazed this has been clunking along for so long. I am stuck at 80/83 on Hero Achievements, and yet the hint icon at upper left of my screen shows i have completed everyone.
Seems almost like for a brief period, the achievement counter stopped counting, while everything else just ticked along, since we have a variety of levels according to Hero screen (78/83, 80/83, 81/83, and 82/83) Can’t agree more with the sentiments, that this has been kicking around for an awfully long time, sure would be nice to see it corrected.
It has been suggested… but that would be as good as admitting they can’t fix a simple hint achievement bug after 8 months. Obliviously letting it rot there is a less flagrant show of incompetence. So here we are.
Also, I agree that the rightclick targetting/target loss combined with the camera rotation is the biggest issue of the game. But if they can’t fix this little thing in a 8 month beta…

Since anet seems unwilling or does not care about fixing this. My questions is, would creating new characters going through all the hints again. Has anyone been successful that way? I still cannot understand why they would create a leaderboard, knowing full well there are problems with the achievement system. Says a lot about how they think imo.
The real question here is simple: “Does anyone have this achievement unlocked?” Anyone at all? If so, then we’re the broken few. If no one has it then it’s a flaw with the entire game itself…

I have spent many hours trying this exact thing. Created different class characters going through all the hints again to no avail. Still stuck at 78/83 no matter what i do, despite them all having been completed.
This is getting on for 7-8 months now, and with the new leaderboards seeing this achievement stuck with no prospect of it being fixed or even anet acknowledging there is a fault despite several bug reports and forum posts is pretty much annoying me to the point its spoiling the game for me. Either they should let everyone know they are aware of problem and working on it, or remove this particular achievement altogether.
The latest patch did nothing for me. For me, the equipment and items stays at 83% or so. The hint bar states 52/53. The two that appear bugged, for me at least, are broken equipment (which I’ve done yet again with no results) and the laurels (which I’ve earned enough of to buy all the ascended gear save one more earring.
Mine is broken as well. The only hint I have remaining is “Broken Equipment”. I have tried intentionally breaking gear on 2 different characters. The hint won’t pop.
ANet…. a comment or acknowledgement would be greatly appreciated.
Read that patch fixed hints. My hint broken was the mailbox full hint which I have complained about in the past – several months ago.
Let mailbox fill up and now there are 12 letters in it from game and still no “HINT” that the box is full. WIll let it fill up to over 20 and see if that fixes it. This is annoying. It takes time, I can’t pick up my rewards and clogs stuff up. It is a little thing but when you advertise that something is fixed it would be nice if it were true.
I know, everyone is busy making new buggy content. Sigh.
My hints are also at 82/83. The two that aren’t updating as done are Laurels (which I have earned many of and spent many of) and Achievement Chests (which I do daily achievements every day if I can). So they should both be checked.
This has been bugged for 9 months, but it’s even more annoying now that the new Achievement panel has a “Nearly Completed” section and the bugged achievement is just sitting there taunting me, lol :p
I am also stuck on 82/83 in the Achievement panel, while the Hints panel shows checkmarks beside all the hints.
