Same issue here with the mail box full hint, also got the repair hint bugged..

It is absolutely absurd that this is not fixed after an entire year. The only way it seems to get these hints is to make a character in the current patch.

Ranger Pet Charm: 1) Find a “new” pet to charm. 2) Stay close of him until the F appears 3) log out(character select didnt work for me). 4) login and play, the first thing u ll see in the game, ll be the “pet charm window(hint)” popped up. 5) just press F and be happy.

I still can’t figure out how to get the “Thief Steal” achievement and nothing seems to work. Even creating a new one would not award me with the hint.

Almost the same with engineer. Using tool belt doesn’t provide the achievement

For the ‘Mailbox is full’ hint. I had people spam my inbox until it was fill. But I didn’t get the achievement until i logged into another character and actually clicked the ‘Mailbox is Full’ hint when it popped up.

This helped me too. God, this achievement is such a pain.

I stuck at 82/83. The “Supply” WvW hint is missing. Don’t know what to do, tried to do some WvW with new characters, I tried to do everything possible with supplies but still nothing. Did anyone have problem with same hint? I’d love to get some clues.

And this is the last unchecked hint I have left…

I found a solution for the thief steal one at least. I went to PvP with a new character, went to the practice enemies and used steal on it. Got it without a problem.

I just rolled an elementalist to try to get the attunement swap one – I had to relog and then wait a while for it to pop, but I was already using F2 so I swapped to F1, waited for the cooldown, then back to F2, and then clicked away the hint — but it didn’t check it off on my list. Do I have to roll another one just to get this to work <.<

I, too, am having some ridiculous problems with hint completion. I’ve rolled an engineer and cannot get the Tool Belt hint to work. I’ve now rolled a ranger and am having problems getting Pet Charm, Pet Controls, and Pet Panel to trigger, even though I’ve tamed a new creature, hit F2, and opened the management panel.

Having trouble with tool belt hint for engineer and its the last one I need . Currently at 82/83 hints.

Hey guys, I had the same issued 81/83. What I ended up doing was going to Lion’s Arc and asking map as well as my guildmates to go ahead and spam my inbox. After about 7-10 messages the Hint Completion Achievement completed. It seems as though it’s a bug but you might be able to proc it just by redoing the full mailbox.

I’m having trouble with these two;

Warrior Adrenaline and PvP returning to PvE

Is there something else I’m supposed to do to complete these or are they just bugged?

EDIT: I am also having trouble with Mail Box is full hint

Any ideas of how to get the Laurel hint checked off?

I am missing that one, I have multiple Laurels and even purchased things with them, but didn’t get credit for the hint. With the new wallet system, I’m not sure if I can still get the hint. =/

I’m currently stuck at 82/83 and I’ve got no idea of what I’m missing, or how to check it. The hint completion number have obviously increased since I’ve tried out several races and professions. Still don’t get what the problem could be? Is there any chance it’s profession- or racebound?

These are the characters I’ve got:
Level 80 Human Guardian
Level 80 Human Ranger
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Level 80 Asura Thief
Level 52 Sylvari Elementalist
Level 22 Asura Mesmer
Level 11 Sylvari Necromancer
Level 11 Charr Engineer

None of those have finished personal story, if that makes any sense. It’s getting annoying to have this junk as a perma reminder in the top-three nearly completed achievements list…

I am stuck with this hint as well as the “Score” hint. I have no idea what triggers the pop-up.

I tried on a brand new character, standing by supply for a few minutes. I tried grabbing supply, and then standing near various buildings. I tried talking to the tutor. I tried everything I could think of, and nothing appeared. I am fairly certain the hint appeared before.. but the system only counts it if you “click” the hint, and I originally used “x” to close them which does not work.

I am going to revive this as well. I was at 82/83 hints, with only Trebuchet not complete. I went to the pvp training area, and used the trebuchet, the hint is now checked off in my Hints window, but the achievement never updated to 83/83. So I have my entire hint window checked off, but the achievement not triggered.

Unfortunately I’m having the same issue – Missing three achievements (2 ranger things, obtain and swap pet, both done, and the inbox thing) and I’ve done all three, but won’t get credit, it’s a bummer

I’m also experiencing this bug. I’ve just completed the last hint I needed (the pvp trebuchet one), and every hint is checked as complete on the Hints menu. But in the achievements menu, it still shows me at 82/83.

Got to revive this topic too… I’m still with 79/83

I still have 1 char slot free which i ONLY USE to create new chars to try to get the hints that i still need like:

Necromancer Life Force
Ranger Pet Charm
Ranger Pet Controls
Engineer Tool Belt

And for most absurd this sounds…. still need the
Mailbox Is Full -.-""

those 5 hints i can’t get them done for how much hard i try ….they just don’t get activated i already lost count on how many rangers and necros i’ve created and lvled till 15~20’ish and then ended up deleting them to restart again :/

I’m having issues with this as well. Specifically, I created a new Guardian, and one of the hints is to hit F1 to grant virtue to allies (I believe). I have done this at least a hundred times, yet the hint comes back every 30 minutes or so and is never marked as complete. Several of the thief hints that I’ve done and should be marked complete are not as well (although they at least lack the annoying popup all the time).

Same problem here, cannot unlock some of the ranger hints namely: Open pet panel and use pet controls.

I have two hints left, laurel and charm. I have completed daily and monthly over and over so how this makes sense? I don’t know. As for the charm hint, I have a ranger and even made a new one and same problem…

Ok, does anyone know how to get the hint for the hint panel? That’s the only one I’m missing. Sort of sad really.

I know right? Ironic. I’d be laughing quite a bit more about it, if it wasn’t so frustrating.

I managed to get all three of the annoying Ranger hints to pop the other day, here is what worked for me.
Pet Charm:
For this, I found a juvenile animal which I hadn’t charmed yet and selected it as a target. I waited for a few seconds and the hint showed up. Press to charm the animal as soon as the hint shows.
Pet Swap:
Here I went to a high level area and commanded my pet to attack my target. I let the pet die and as he was returning to me, the hint popped telling me to swap my pet. Again, swap your pet when the hint shows.
Pet Panel:
On the same animal which I charmed before, when the screen pops up saying “You have charmed this animal, swap it to loadout now?”, just close that screen. The hint appeared for me soon after I ignored that command, telling me I ckittene my pet panel to change my pet loadout.

This worked first time for some people in my guild needing Pet Panel, so it may work for you too! I was getting really frustrated with the hints, but for a brief moment I just thought “how stupid would I have to be for a hint to be needed?” and those where the situations I came up with.

I’m curious, since I’ve had my account since 2012, the fact that the Traveling to WvW hint hasn’t triggered yet, makes me think it never will, without Dev help.

Has anyone ever had any success with triggering the Traveling to WvW?

Also very strange but it says I have 82/83 complete, yet it says I’m missing “Traveling to WvW” and “Thief Steal” in the hints panel, so shouldn’t I have 81/83?

I think many have, eventually, completed the Hint Completion category, including myself. It just seems to take an inordinate amount of time (for me, it took more than a year).

The counter has been ‘bugged’ since launch, as well.

For the Traveling to WvW, where is that hint triggered? Do I need to just keep bringing new characters into WvW? Or do I need to “not” bring them into WvW, and PvE until I get the popup?

I assume you mean this one:

To join the battle, click on [Go to World vs. World] and then click on the name of the map you’d like to fight in.

I’m guessing just keep trying different maps. I don’t think it needs to be a new character. Hopefully, it will trigger one day.

You know….GW2 has a problem with queues. I’ve no idea if Hints are in any way associated with any of the queues, but it may be worth a try to empty out anything waiting for pick-up at the TP as well as all your mail (and anything else that might possibly be queued). I mean, it can’t hurt. Just a random thought I had.

For some reason, my mail-full and trebuchet ops hints are present, but not accounted for. Not a huge deal, 5AP ‘n all, but it’s kinda irritating.

Mine has been stuck at 82/83 for months. Think the problem is the mail box full achievement not being rewarded.

Thanks for the advice. I tried clearing all my queues, but nothing triggered. It was worth a shot though.

Oh, well. Maybe some day we will figure out what causes this ‘bug’, and be able to avoid/fix it.

I finally got the hint completion achievement to trigger. I started up yet another Thief, and played without ever touching the F1 key. Eventually after leveling a few levels, the Thief skill hint triggered and then I got the 83/83 achievement trigger too.

Weird thing is, I still am missing one hint according to the list, the Travel to WvW one. So that section still says 80%.

Does anyone know how to get the Laurel Hint? I’ve got well over 400 Laurels, have spent a bucket load of Laurels on items at a variety of different laurel Vendors and still the Hint doesn’t show as done.

Any ideas?

My issue is that I have all but “Finishing Opponents” under “PvP”. Defeated an enemy, hit F, they died, and it says I still need it. It is even more frustrating given the fact that I am not a fan of PvP (or WvW for that matter) in general, in any video game. I don’t want to have to go in again, especially if this ends up being a bug that will never be fixed. I had no issues with any other Hints, not even the mail one.

I have had this issue for months and months. I am stuck at 80/83. The ones that I am missing are the Finish an opponent in the PvP section, the broken armor (which I have most definitely have!!), and the travel to WvW. Hopefully I will be able to get this entire hint completion achievement some day……………….

i’ve been playing consistently since Beta and have not got the achievement.

And they finally found a “fix” for the issue with Hint Completion achievement: getting rid off the achievement completely :P. After September 2014 Feature Patch the achievement now sits in “Retired Achievements” in the Historical tab and the Help panel was removed.
