I noticed that a Ranger that has NOT spec’d into Druid can use HoT pets. Not really game breaking, but that’s unfair to other classes that they can’t use something from HoT like their weaps.

Pets are not tied to specializations, they are the core mechanic for the ranger. Weapon specializations are different. Ranger can’t use the staff unless their specialization is active. So they are just as affected as other classes.

You know Rangers also have weapons right?
The pet is not a weapon (tho I wish it would be)
Every class, including Rangers, must unlock their HoT weapons.
I guess the OP heard it is “cool” to complain about Rangers for some reason.

I guess you didn’t understand their concern.

  • 8 professions need to use the elite specialization before using their new weapons.
  • Rangers, who get a substantial portion of their DPS, support, and control from pets, can use new pets without using the elite spec.

So the OP believes that HoT pets should be treated liked “elite weapons”.

I agree with you and the other respondent that pets are different, they are tied to the core profession, not to any specialization. All the same, I don’t think the OP was arbitrarily hating on rangers; they just thought that it looked like rangers were getting an extra advantage.
