Now that we’ve been MegaServed, how do I report a bugged event? I used to think that telling them what server I was on was important to help them locate and fix the issue. But now I never have any idea what server I am on.
When I use the in-game bug report tool, does it detect and include that info for them automatically? Is there a way I can see what server I am on? Or does it not really matter after all?
Type /ipaddress
That will tell you which version of the map you are on. And yes, the in-game report logs such information.
You can also see it when loading if you use the command line -maploadinfo
Good luck.
You can use the /bug command. Give any info you can about what’s happened and what caused the event to bug.
/ipaddress from the chat line? Gives me “Unknown command”.
I added -maploadinfo and I’m not seeing anything in plain English that says “Jade Quarry” or “Yak’s Bend” or anything else. But it DOES give me a good idea of how the loading is progressing! (I hate the looping “please wait” circle. It tells you absolutely nothing. They should never have replaced the old progress bar.)
Anyhoo… am I missing something? Do I need to type /ipaddress someplace other than chat? Does one of those many lines of info provided by -maploadinfo tell me what server I’m being shunted into?
You can use the /bug command. Give any info you can about what’s happened and what caused the event to bug.
Thank you… I’ve reported many bugs before. Now I’m curious how to know what server I’ve been placed into since I always used to include that information in my reports.
There is no more ‘server’. Not really. The ip address is the location that your server and any other server uses to designate the map instance used. They don’t have names, anymore, really.
Sorry about the chat command, its /ip address
Which will give you the same address you saw on the loading screen. The first ip address is where you are loading into, the second ip address is where you came from, if applicable.
Even before MegaServers, each Server used an ip address to designate where you would be. Worlds such as Jade Quarry or Blackgate were assigned a particular one, which you would be loaded into, unless it was full, then you would be placed into a random unfilled one.
After MegaServer, you are placed in random ip address Servers. They (are supposed to) first check for others of your Home World designation, and/or Guild, and/or Friends, etc. to make a determination onto which open ip address Server to place you in. I hope that explains it better. You will never see a name anymore. Just the numbers which tell the Devs which map you are on. You can also use it to try to join others in a particular map. At least, you can tell if you are in the same map, as others with the /ip address. =)

Thank you. In gratitude, I give you the result of a theory I tested: you can simply type “/ip” and get the same result.
Not having to type the word “address” should extend the projected life of your A, S, and D keys which gamers need so desperately.
Oh, ok. I don’t use those keys that much, in fact I never use A or D and rarely S, but thanks for the tip! =)
