I can't see party members on world map.
You could never see party members that were not in the same map. I don’t think MegaServer changed that.
You could, megaserver did change that.
Really! My client must be broken, as I have never been able to see party members when they are blacked out on my Party UI.
Thanks for the heads-up!
You could still see them on the world map as blue dots, however updated less frequently, rather than real time.
Due to megaserver having been forced everywhere and each zone being made into a melting-pot instance of players from all servers, we no longer have the ability to see party member locations in different maps. Previously we could because all of the zones were on the same server/world and were the home world instances of the map. Before megaserver you would not be able to see party members if they were in an overflow instance of their zone. Since all zones are all overflow/megaserver, you can only see your party member locations by joining them in their instance and only while you are in the same zone with them.
We are basically in a state of every instance of a zone being a megaserver zone made up of players from all servers. Every zone is now essentially an overflow zone, but now blends players from all servers into one instance instead of just players from that server.
The days are gone of being able to see party members’ locations in zones other than the one you are in. In addition to this, you can be in the same zone and be in different megaserver versions of it. You could waypoint in to them and end up in a different version and would then need to right-click their name in your party UI and click “Join In…” to be placed into the same instance together. You could both walk through a zone transition and end up in different megaserver versions of the new zone.
It has been said that the way megaserver works in determining criteria for placing you and your party members into the same instance (contacts list, party members, etc.) should not place party members into separate instances, but it does. Haven’t had it not separate all of my party members up yet. Quite disappointing to have to “Join In…” every single time one waypoints to a friend and/or party member, as well as all going through portals at the same time and then have to waste time agreeing whose instance for us all to “Join In…” on just so we can get back to actually playing the game. sigh
