I’ve been trying to hook up with a group to do the AC dungeon but it’s really hard when I keep getting “Your message was suppressed due to excessive messaging” when trying to tell someone I’d like to join their group. I assume this is to “suppress” gold sellers from spamming the chat channel, but I think the settings need to be tweaked a bit.

Oh yeah happens to me all the time when I’m trying to look for the last members of a dungeon group only get a few messages off till that comes up and it’s not something you can really just wait off because of how long it lasts

Agreed on settings tweaks. I’ve had messages suppressed that I hadn’t posted since the day before – and on a different character, to boot.

Same here, I usually wait like 5 minutes between messages and add random characters to the end to draw attention. Also, I’m using local chat (/say).

I don’t even get suppressed and get called spam for making a point, people just don’t like to hear the truth.

I agree with OP. I don’t know what the Arena Net developers responsible for the “excessive messaging” block were thinking. A huge part of playing any multi-player game is repetitive, short messages. This is not “spam”, this is communication. I was recently blocked due to right-clicking a map waypoint into chat each time the “nearby event” took place. When spam filters block real communication between people, they are WORSE than the spam they are intended to stop.

“Hello! XXX”
“Good morning!”
“How are you?”
“What are you doing now?” => msg suppressed…
And the last mail I received from ArenaNat was: “Let’s get social”
