Immediate Kill & Teleport to Map "Origin"
I experienced similar behavior in the SAB Worlds. It happens at almost every ledge, though it doesn’t teleport me into the sky and I couldn’t reproduce a kill yet.
Maybe it’s related. Here’s a video, happens twice in it.

PS: This also didn’t happen anymore after a restart… coincidence or related?

This is a feature of anets spaghetti code mapping system which is also the cause of broken teleport skills and all the dungeon skips in old times. They basically just patch over a broken engine. You can do this and be teleported onto an untapped but solid segment of sky in lionsarch lol.
Just wanna give an update on this. I didn’t have this bug anymore since I reported this the second time.
Though it still makes me wonder: Why did it happen only at very random times until I restarted the game?
I can personally tell my weird collision detections back in the days when I wrote indie games were much worse, but this bug reminded me of them xD
Since I never had it anymore… priority drops beyond low I guess.

It happened all over again in the recent 2 weeks. As if saying it doesn’t happen again made it come out again.
Now I decided to film it once more, as it got ridiculous in the today’s JP task.

No, the lags in between were not caused by my computer. They happen when the game is about to vomit. You can see worse hickups midway through. Until I finally get teleported to a completely random position.
If you think I did the JP badly, yes I did, I was slightly annoyed =’}
