I have tried to finish this quest 3 times now and each time it has bugged in the same spot.

I am able to get to the final fight against Mordremoth, save all my ‘companions’ and get him to the phase where he stands behind the dragon face and sends waves after me. I defeat wave 1, pop reality rift 1, and burn him. He is left with about 5-10% hp. I then defeat wave 2, pop reality rift 2, and…. his defiance bar doesn’t go down all the way, so I can’t finish him. After this point he just stands there forever. No more mobs spawn, no more reality rifts spawn, the allies just stand there, and that’s it. There is absolutely no way to do anything as Mordremoth is invulnerable and there is no way to break his defiance bar since the reality rifts don’t spawn.

This is extremely frustrating as the primary reason I even own HoT is for the storyline, and I can’t finish it because the last fight is very clearly lacking some much needed QA.

I’m sorry you are having trouble defeating the boss — it’s doable, though, as other people have done so successfully.

If you are going solo, you need to bring extra CC for that last phase. And save it for just the right moment.

There is a spot that you can get to for that final phase where you can swap weapons and change skills, if necessary — it’s just outside of his range and he doesn’t reset his health if you get out-of-combat.

First time I hear of this and I’ve done it on multiple alts, sounds bugged to me. Extra CC won’t help as his bar regenerates too quickly and he’s too far away from the rift for any ranged CC skills.

Me and my friend are stuck where you’re with Trahearne and his sword at the end. We are currently unable to interact with Trahearne in any way to bring his sword to him. We spent the whole day getting this far, and really don’t want to do it all again. Is this a bug or are we missing something?

Every time I’ve seen him die, it’s because people break his defiance bar all the way. It’s good to hear that there’s another way.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll try again and bring an offhand pistol (thief) and see if headshot can finish his break bar off.
