In Game Mail Issue - Recipient name changes when sending items
Are you sure its a random player name – or is it the official account name of your friend that is being automatically assigned to the mail? (which its supposed to do)
Checked. This happens with both official account names (the one with numbers after them) and character names. If you have anyone highlighted on your screen that isn’t an NPC, it will populate that persons name in place of whoever you had typed into the recipient field. So, I suppose its not a random name, just whoever you may be facing or have moused over before/during your mail creation.
Right. happens to me every time I try to send stuff with the “mail to” -thing.
When I click it, the name in the mail changes to someone right next to me.
This is a problem to some people.
A few days ago, I got a mail with stuff from a random person. He texted me right after, that it was an accident and he never clicked on me or typed my name in…. all he did, was standing right beside me. I send it back and we talked a little about that mail-problem.
It could be the name of the person you mouse over while clicking in your inventory, maybe the person that stands right behind the clicked item, because it will not happen, when you step aside, so that you are alone and looking upon a wall or some house without players in sight.
Just tested this and it’s a really annoying feature, it is indeed the person closest in your chars field of view that gets filled in automatically. I can only assume it’s working as intended though.. still, it’s really annoying.
It’s not so much annoying as just plain confusing as to how, why would the mail system try to decide who I want to mail items to? My only thought is that without a person-to-person trade, they decided to add this feature for those players who like person-to-person trades. I’m just guessing though…
