In game mail
I am having same issue, just sent my friend 4 emails with jewlery that i made and he did not recieve one email!! Please fix this and recover my stuff please!!
Check to make sure their mailboxes aren’t full. The mailbox is full after 10 messages.
Had this issue as well tonight. A party member sent me an item in the mail and I never got it. The item was definitely sent since it was no longer in his inventory. Not a big deal; just wanted to let you know it didn’t work.
Love the game!
Update: Based on other comments here, I deleted some emails from my mailbox and the missing email showed up!

Please help. I sent my husband an in game mail with a few items and he did not receive it. Yet I tried again with just a message in the mail and he got that. We lost a significant amount of items. Please assist. He had 6/10 messages in his inbox. Not cool. :/
This happpened to me, and Fubsydudeftw’s suggestion fixed it for me: I deleted all the messages that friends had already sent to me (I had 10) and the more recently sent ones came right in.
He deleted messages and nothing. It’s not the end of the world, but it was so many crafting items. So its frustrating, you know?
Having similar problem with a few more pieces of information. I sent several mails to two different characters of a friend with attached items. He received none of the mails. I tried to send a mail to his third character and was told it did not exist. He can send me mail, but I cannot sent to him, not even with the reply option. It says sent successfully but he never gets it.
Also… When I added him to my friends list with his gamer tag, the four numbers after the dot did not match the ones I typed in. When he tried to add me as a friend he got a message that there was no user by that name. We were sitting side by side with laptops and double checked all spellings and numbers.
He said that the four numbers on his gamer tag changed after he put in the codes for the box version of the game. Could this maybe be causing confusion in the mail system if there are actually two different tags associated with his account in different ways?

This is a problem I encountered with my friend and I believe this is a workaround.
For whatever reason right clicking his portrait and selecting “Send-Mail” used his account name (EG Merk.7260). If I used this as the recipient he would not receive any of my mail.
However, If I replaced the account name with his character name (EG Ulfric Hammerstorm) my mail would successfully go through.
Inviting him to a party through this same method also prevented the problem of incorrect zoning and map disappearing.
Bought something from the store, friends have sent me a few items via mail and I’ve received nothing. This has been going on for 2 days now, don’t you think it’s about time this should be fixed?
This issue has costed me 2 level 80 Exotic bows someone made for me yesterday. He sent the mail via reply and it never got to me. He sent mails afterwards and they went through. I just lost so much materials and gold because of this garbage bug.
Can an ANet employee please make a response to this? Will we ever get our items back or are screwed?
I keep hoping to see an official answer to this. I doubt we will get what we lost, but at least an acknowledgment of the issue? Sometihng?
Try typing in their character’s name if the GW2 user ID doesn’t work!

Still nothing in my mail.
10+ gold down the drain…. sigh
I am having the same issues here, except that it sent my mail to another person that I don’t know. I used the guild window and right clicked my friend Goqua name and said send mail. I added the items and put a title in. I did not mess with the name. Then I clicked send and he said he didn’t receive it. I then ask him to send me something and it went through. I was able to send it back to him using the same method and it go to him.
The problem here is that the first message went to some guy named Zed Tigre. I don’t know how it went to him, but he had my 120 iron and 20 silver that I was trying to send to my buddy. He sent me back my iron, but not the silver. I don’t want to use the mail system, if it has a chance of sending the mail to some random person this is a huge issue.
Small update. My friend finally did receive the items I sent to one of his characters. They started appearing when he deleted a few in-game reward mails from NPCs. His mail was not full (had less than 10/10) when I originally sent the mail messages with attached items, but he didn’t receive them until he started deleting the ones he did have.
I still get “Unable to find recipient” when trying to send mail to one of his 3 characters.
