while i’m unsure of how it happens and i have no images or videos of it, there is a bug that is not area specific that causes monsters to respawn instantly on death. I have had it happen multiple times in several areas and on several characters.

I have only experienced it on the Draconis Mons map, but then again I have only been really killing mobs recently on that map and no other. Since it might be connected to a patch, I can imagine it being an issue elsewhere as well.

I’ve had this happen several times. For my Necro not a big deal, for my Ele ya it’s super annoying to the point I rarely play the toon. Happened in Auric Basin earlier, literally as the mob died another was spawning same spot. I was curious if there was a dynamic spawn timer, usually this helps with spawning more mobs when there is a bunch of players in a single area, however I’ve not found any info anywhere of GW2 using one.

It would help a lot if y’all could identify the specific locations in which you think this has happened. If it’s Auric Basin, what point is the meta at? There are a number of possibilities that would explain the behavior, besides “instant respawn” (although, of course, that’s also one).

It’s difficult for ANet to figure out how to fix it if they don’t have enough details to find examples or (better yet) how to reproduce the issue.


Is it possible that it’s not instant respawn but a coincidentally different set of spawns? There’s a spot on the ledge west of the Heathen waypoint with a bunch of destroyers, which one can dispatch without too much trouble. My impression is that there’s a second spawn of them that appears … possibly associated with the meta (7 destroyer infestations → 4 burrows → 2 lieutenants) -- they aren’t in the area of these events, but they seem to pop up as the status of the meta changes.

So it can easily happen that you kill the one spawn and as you do, the unrelated spawn appears. The foes are roughly the same; I’d be hard pressed to say which was the original group and which was the new one.

The same thing happens in the Inquest presence near Rata Arcanum — you can kill the foes that are up and poof, you get respawns — not the ones you just killed; they are the ones that were killed by someone else, shortly before.

It was the same exact mob. Two reasons I’m sure about this, one it was a mordrem hound and in the area around the mirrors they are a companion of the sniper, tormentor, or herald and it was the same hound that spawned given they are few and far in between in that area. Also a side note, the meta had already been done previous to the encounter by a couple mins or so since I was there to get map currency. It happens from time to time, though it rarely happens a lot.
