Intolerable Lag
“The game client lost its connection to the server.
Please wait a few minutes before restarting the
client and trying again. (Code=7:11:3:189:101)”
Error Code 7 x x x x
(example – 7:11:3:189:101)“The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again.”
If you continue to experience this error after waiting and restarting the client, please try temporarily disabling any security software such as Norton, AVAST, AVG, or McAfee. If this does not work, you might also try adjusting the ‘security’ setting within the firewall settings. Lowering this setting to ‘medium’ or ‘low’ will often clear up connection issues.
In the event that adjusting the security settings does not resolve the issue, please try temporarily uninstalling the security software completely. If this does resolve the issue, please contact the software manufacturer for instructions on how to configure it correctly if you wish to reinstall it.
In addition, Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound. For further information about opening ports or port forwarding, you can visit the following website: http://www.portforward.com Please note, this site is not affiliated with or supported by NCSOFT or ArenaNet.
If you are connecting to Guild Wars 2 while on a campus, military, or business network, please check with your network’s administrator to verify that these ports are fully opened and unrestricted. If you are on a home Local Area Network (LAN), you will want to make sure that your network’s hardware is properly configured.
I turned off all of AVG protection, turned off Windows Firewall, opened the ports (except 80, my internet stopped working when I opened port 80) and it worked fine, sort of… At first, I died and then tried to teleport to a waypoint. It failed, so I tried again so many times that when it finally worked, the screen loaded for a good minute and then I was down 60 bronze coins. After that it seemed to work perfectly fine, up until an hour later when I started exploring. I climbed onto a pipe I found in a cave, and randomly died on said pipe. I have no idea how I was damaged so much with nothing around me. Immediately after that, a friend who had followed me tried to revive me and I disconnected.
Again, this game looks freaking amazing. I love it compared to other MMOs so far, and so far it seems like it was worth the $40. Just, you know, not if I can’t actually play it when I want to. So if anyone could help me figure out what exactly is wrong here so I can fix it as soon as possible, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
Bump.
It sure would be nice if you guys would at least reply and let us know you’re working on it, or maybe even a time frame for when you expect to have the issue resolved. I’ve searched quite a few forums postings and I’ve seen very little response from ARENAnet. I started playing a week ago and I like the game a lot, except when it’s unplayable due to this horrendous lag. If you continue to treat your community like this I will be forced to assume you care very little about quality of service. I purchased the game with my credit card, and I can simply force a refund whether you like it or not. Stop ignoring people.
did you contact customer support yet?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-to-Submit-a-Technical-Support-Ticket-2
just noticing that you are trying to get help via wrong method. this forum is not for direct tech support. also you are posting it in wrong section. should be in tech support in my opinion.
also i doubt lag you are writing about is caused by server side. either routing problems between your ISP and game ISP or something wrong on your side.
It’s not my internet. I know this because I’m in a skype call the entire time I’m playing
if you have crappy connection then skype call is what’s causing your game to lag. skype is infamous for taking over ports, and wasting network resources.
I use QoS on my wireless router and set the TCP and UDP for all 4 ports list to open, priority high.
I agree with Saul that Skype is really ad at chewing up Internet bandwidth, but because it’s VoIP, it needs higher bandwidth for clarity and fluidity. Even vent causes me lag sometimes too. If your wireless has QoS, you can add Skype as one of the allowances with priority.
I was getting the same code you have, but I am on a Mac laptop and it seemed that my wireless network card was swapping network bands with my dual band router… Switching from a 5ghz connection to a 2.4ghz connection when the signal degraded. I never lost connectivity on anything else I did (streaming vids, downloading game updates, etc), only gw2!
I don’t know anything about your setup, but I’ll note my solution for my code 7 disconnect. I changed the names (ssid) of my wireless bands to unique names – ex: 5ghz = my-internet5, 2.4ghz = my-internet2. And I only allowed my laptop the password to one of those, so it can’t switch automatically. Haven’t had a code 7 d/c since… Only different crashing errors in WvW, but those are another story.
If you still can’t figure it out, contact support via a ticket ASAP as mentioned by Saul again.
The game server does lag a bit during prime playtimes sometimes, but it’s not unplayable, just inconvenient unless your ISP can’t keep up.
