I just tried repairing and unfortunately it still does not work. This has effectively stopped me from playing as its so frustrating.

Try to rename your local.dat file, that is where all your settings are save. The file is somewhere in you documents folder where also your screenshots are.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I just tried renaming the local.dat file. It did not help sadly.
