Invisible (non-rendered) people
I have experienced this as well.
Lately after the first few patches it seems npcs are loading incredibly slow, even with my latency being fine and the game doesn’t appear to be lagging at all, it still happens making finding vendors and such a pain…

I agree, this is really annoying.
This also exists in regular PvE when it comes to both enemies and players.
I was doing the Temple of Grenth a few minutes ago and all allied players disappeared while the enemies slowly faded into the game.
I understand that it’s to help you get a good FPS but please, let us choose who and what to render and how many.
At least give us an option that somewhat let us alter it, maybe an option to prioritize players or enemies.
Glad to see I’m not alone.
I understand the effort to thwart lag and such; however, when I can see the mobs in front of me being attacked and dying but not see the player who is attacking said mob… that’s a problem.

You should be glad that you can see the enemy, I’ve seen players attack invisible enemies all day long…

We can agree then… the rendering needs some attention.
Please Anet solve this problem, I can see all the effects but not every one (with graphism in high or low, no differences) it’s really frustrating to die without seeing his enemies.
I prefer to see other than the effects !!!!!
I have random people not rendering, example: I was following two of my guildies around and only their heads were visible and sometimes their weapons, but everyone else in town was visible. Was only those two. Also sometimes randomly throughout the world small groups of people won’t render for a while until I stand still, but people running past can be seen.
~Surrender fiend and you will get an easy death
~I could promise you the same…but it would be a lie…
apparently its an element of the engine, to improve performance and lag

I actually posted this as a bug the very first day the official forums opened: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/BUG-Mobs-and-players-suddenly-appearing-pop-in/first#post25485
This needs to be addressed or atleast give us the option to enable it or disable it freely.
I was exploring the bloodtide coast yesterday, and this problem was really annoying, and especially strong while underwater for some reason. I would be about 1500-2000 game units away from the enemy npc… I can see it attacking someting, I can see something attacking it… I have to get really close for that something to finally turn into a swarm of players.
At first I teamed up with a guildie to explore this area, but we kept disappearing for each other if we get half-the compass map away from each other. That’s that old party-members-disappearing bug. Can the two problems possibly be related?

You can’t enable or disable it. It’s not a client-side option. It’s part of the engine running on the server.
I also see this happen in cutscenes.
The worst part about this “feature” is in WvWvW.
Lets say you defend a keep, you get there early and there is only like 10-20 people outside when you check and start attacking from the walls. You see their numbers going down and think “yeah, its time to get out there and clean up”.
But when you get close to the visable players you insta die and suddenly the other 50+ players load. This has happend more then once and its a major pain and totaly ruins the experience. Try hitting invis players with a arrow cart, same problem.
Its also kind of a pain in the huge events where alot of people gather, since 90% of the stuff isn’t even loading correctly becouse of it. And suddenly you see 100 corpses doing their death animation AGAIN and that can lag you to hell.
We really need a option to increase the draw distance of players/monsters or a button so we can just turn it on and off. This feature might be exploited in WvWvW , send lots of players to attack. The defenders cant see all the people becouse the game limits them to “save their fps” and then you build up siege equip without them even seeing it.
I have this problem too.
This, imo, is the second most significant problem plaguing WvW (after broken queues).

I think it is by purpose as well, but that is definitely the wrong way…
Not showing characters at all is a game flaw if it isn’t just bug…
If I want to help allies or fight some enemies, but can’t because I don’t even see them… That is a no go! I experienced that in WvW as well as in PvE… Even within some boss fights where I saw the boss on the mini map, but not on the screen!

I wanted to bump this because I get this all the time. In Lions Arch I literally move from the Mystic Forge over to the bank and none of the bankers are there. Its really bad.
I noticed that this started happening when they (mostly) fixed the sound not starting right away.
This is a serious problem.
The draw distance is ridiculously short also.
Stand on a high wall in WvWvW and you cant even see the enemies below!
But all AOE spells is visible for example.
And when running around in WvWvW enemies can’t bee seen for example on the other side of a field. Sometimes when the rendering is slow also a whole army can materialize right in your face.
And this is not just me on my computer it’s everyone.
This happed to our whole zerg 2 times a few days ago.
We were running around and BAM a whole army poped up all around us and killed us, noone saw them.
This rendering and sight problems is very annoying and gamebreaking.
