I don’t think this is a bug so much as she’s just terribly weak with a massive zerg of 100+ players. She definitely doesn’t scale up enough; it’s not even necessary to use eggs anymore since that many people burn her down so quickly.

Kind of sad when a “megaboss” dies in a minute or two of straight skill spamming.

I was recently disappointed with the Fire Elemental the same way. Hadn’t been there since before the MegaServer, and now he drops in about a minute too.

If this is not a bug, then your game is pointless.

I do the event every day, and while it’s usually extremely fast, I have yet to see it take less than a minute. (Nearly every day, someone in my party has to run from a waypoint, and that alone takes nearly a minute.)

I agree it is over too quickly — even the four pre-events can be done within 2 minutes. However, I don’t think the event is “bugged” — like every world boss, it needs a lot of tweaking to handle zergs of zerker-equipped players.

Her armored carapace probably needs to be tweaked a bit so that she’s completely immune to all damage at 50 stacks (like Mai’s shield), but as people throw eggs she starts taking damage. Currently she takes a small amount of damage even with full stacks, so with a large enough zerg you can still kill her without throwing any eggs at all.

Her armored carapace probably needs to be tweaked a bit so that she’s completely immune to all damage at 50 stacks (like Mai’s shield), but as people throw eggs she starts taking damage. Currently she takes a small amount of damage even with full stacks, so with a large enough zerg you can still kill her without throwing any eggs at all.

Yeah, that would be a simple sort of tweak. Before megaservers, she would last mostly until she had 10 or fewer stacks. Now, she enters phase 2 with about 30 stacks and in the last two days, I’ve seen her with 43 stacks when she entered phase 2.

Another change that would help is to give her 100% health for phase 2, like every other karka veteran and above.

Yeah, she does go down extremely quickly. The only other boss that’s worse is the Fire Elemental…that literally takes all of a few seconds to down. You spend more time waiting for someone with a key to open the bonus phase.

Yeah .. give her 10 phases where she is immune to damage for 1 minute and where 10+ Champs spawn that don’t drop any loot .. that would make the whole thing so much more interesting.

And yes that was sarcasm, but just look at what has happened to Shadow Behemoth after all those constant complains, and nearly nobody i know does him anymore these days.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.

Its simply boring now with the constant portals and spawning of Champs that don’t drop anything so that in the end you get 3-5 dragonite after 10 minutes.

I much prefer Svanir Shaman since that are at least 5 quick events, or Wurm because that also are some quick events and the Avatars at least can drop some bags now.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.

This is the way most events are going now, there idea to make them harder to spawn never ending mobs that drop no loot, sure you have an ultra slim chance of maybe 3 greens in the boss chest,

The worst event for this has to be Jormag, spawns champs and vets that drop no loot so you spend more time trying to run around them, and the chest at Jormag is worthless,

In answer to the OP, I think it comes down to the 15 min spawn windows for world bosses, if the karka queen would take longer than the 1-2mins it takes to burn down and made people miss the next event, people would stop doing it, at least the final chest at KQ can be sometimes decent.

The 15-minute timer shouldn’t have any influence on how ANet designs the events: they should be fun, which probably means some chance at failure and something more interesting than using autoattack and watching TV. Sure, a lot of people would complain about only being able to manage 2 bosses/hour instead of 4, but a lot of people would be pleased to have epic bosses instead of faceroll foes with extra HPs. There’s room between the ease of defeating KQ and the organization (even if PUGs) required for Tequatl. There’s room between the artificial challenge of SB’s non-loot-bearing champs and the complexity of the evolved worm event.

In any case, the OP wanted KQ’s short lifespan addressed as a bug, but it seems likely that the KQ event chain is working as intended.

In answer to the OP, I think it comes down to the 15 min spawn windows for world bosses, if the karka queen would take longer than the 1-2mins it takes to burn down and made people miss the next event, people would stop doing it, at least the final chest at KQ can be sometimes decent.

Tequatl and 3-Headed Wurm both take more than 1-2 minutes, and they work out just fine with the schedule >.>. Just saying. A boss that’s ranked up there with those two shouldn’t be a cakewalk. Imagine how livid players would be if you could completely ignore Teq’s/Wurm’s mechanics and just burn them down with enough players? That’s the situation Karka Queen is in now.

Pretty sure most people skip him nowadays; all his “buff” did was keep the exact same mechanics, but scale up his HP to an insane amount. Same boring mechanics, more HP, yet no danger because he causes little to no damage. Not worth the 10 minutes it takes to kill him.

Certainly some of the bosses need to be looked at since the megaserver implementation. I thought they’d get on this pretty quick, considering how fast some go down (Karka Queen, Taidha Covington, and Fire Ele most of all), but it seems that they consider world bosses actually being fun to be low priority.

Some of the new champs at Phase 2 of Claw event now however drop some bags.
And it still hasn’t been nerfed till now.

Good to see that other people feel the same way about some worldbosses.
I also feel like the low health of the Karka Queen should be looked into. The fun is totally taken out of the event, espacially when you’re just to late because she died in like one minute.
This makes me really sad. Fighting a big boss should be a challange.

Please Arenanet !! Help us and adjust this problem.
