I could have sworn before that when completing a renown heart, I received karma. Now it doesn’t seem to be the case. I have also heard that helping someone else with their personal story is supposed to give karma but I hadn’t seen anything of the like when helping my friends out with their various chapters. For both cases, is it supposed to be like this or is there supposed to be karma given out upon completion?

I’ve still been getting it for dynamic events so there’s that at least.

Edit – I just helped out a lower level friend with her personal story and got karma for ‘Breaking the Blade’. Prior to that I was helping out a high level friend with ‘the sound of psi-lance’ and didn’t receive any there.

This is something I noticed as well. In particular the personal story and my sister wasn’t getting Karma for hearts. I thought the whole point of doing hearts was for Karma and that was why they turned into Karma vendors.

I sent in a bug report about this on the very first day of head start and have yet to hear anything back. Just posted another topic, so they could merge mine to this one if they wanted. You did get karma in beta so I don’t know if they changed it or this is intentional. Would be great to hear either way.

Im having the same problem, i was geting karma from renown quests just fine, but then when i create a new character it just don’t give me any, it keep on zero, i’ve deleted the character, started 3 anothers and all of then don’t get any karma!

Why is this? I’m sure they used to give karma.. whats the point in the heart vendors selling stuff for karma now then?

they used to give karma, and as they unlock karma vendors it seams logical, no idea why Anet woudl change this, it seams incredibly silly.

Yeah, and why have I not received a drop of karma for helping my wife through her personal storyline? I was getting it a few days ago, but now we’ve gone through several (3+) instances and I haven’t gained anything but a few item drops, mostly crafting materials and junk. Is there any reward at all now for helping others with the personal storyline, aside from camaraderie?

I understand why DEs around Tyria give karma. That makes sense to me.

What I don’t understand is why helping other people with their personal stories doesn’t award karma any more. Isn’t going out of our way to do something for someone else what karma is all about?

You also gain no karma with alts if you’ve done the said renown heart previously with another character..

Is this a design decision? Will the karma rewards be reenabled some time in the future or do you want to discourage helping other people with their storys?

Your right! Why would renown heart npc’s have karma items ? Because they used to give karma I hadn’t noticed this until I red this post but they 100% did give karma. Love how the anet comment is vague about the original question.which put simply is why did you change how and when rewards are given

Karma is currently only earned from Dynamic Events (the Orange colored titles/markers on the map – not including Skill Challenge events).

One exotic weapon piece cost 42000 karma, it is hard to earn it if one can’t receive karma from renown hearts as used to. the only thing that it will cause is an extra amount of grind.
A player can receive up to 350 karma for a dynamic event, in order to buy one piece of exotic weapon the player need to grind 120 dynamic events (if the player have the golden tag) and of course not to buy anything from the karma vendors, this decision reduce a huge amount of fun from the game. and prevent high level player from helping lower level players, it was fun to help and receive something useful for it, and i don’t mean only the fun factor. it is funny that a company which state that their game doesn’t have a grind mentality do all it can to make people grind.

I also noticed not getting karma for helping with another character’s personal story – posted about it here yesterday.

What I’d like to know if this is just temporary or a lasting decision, and if the latter, then why?

Daily achievement chests always give jugs of karma worth 4500 karma or more.

Karma ….yah about that, why do Karma Banner’s and Karma Boosters not boost Karma rewards…..AT ALL? they work on jugs…ok nice, but on events? nothing increases neither does the EXP btw.
