Kralkachocolate Bar Food Bug
Hum… Bug, or game mechanics?
(Hum, a wiki dive for a real example came up lacking sufficient cross referencing… There is probably an actual example, but I’ll need to use a fictitious one, using a ficticious item marked in italics)
Lets say for example, that I have a character with 100 vitality and 100 healing power – base.
I equip some armor that boosts vitality by 30.
I apply some food that takes 10% of vitality and applies it to healing power.
I stand in range of a Banner of Defense (raises Vitality by, for discussion, 40)
I apply a rune of Stout Healer to my armor, which boosts my vitality by 10% of my healing power.
The question now is, how do these resolve?
My gear gives me 130 vit, the banner adds 40, for 170., and stout healer adds another 10, for 180 vit.
My only healing power boost is the food, raising it by 10% of that my vit, or 18, yielding me a healing power of 118.
Which means my stout healer boost to vit should be 11.8,not the 10 I used earlier… And redoing my vit totals means my healing power needs refiguring…. Ad infinitium.
So, how do these resolve? I think that’s at the heart of what you are looking at. At the very least, I’d expect the ‘boost stat a by x% of stat b’ use the unmodified stats, that is the figure not in green, so anything that modifies stats in wags reflected in green text, probably has no effect on the result…but that’s about as far as my speculation can take it. Either someone else has studied how these different stat modifiers resolve and will chime in with better detail, or its going to take real research.
The various ‘boost stat a by x% of stat b’ leave them open to a loop of two stats boosting each other, and the simple solution is to resolve things in a defined and discrete order. I’d expect that’s the route ANet went, but I don’t expect them to share the details with us.
I guess it just doesn’t work with the green numbers.
I also tried to use the food after getting a stat boost from a banner and my thoughness one from my traits.
This won’t add up any more healing power than the other way around.
Removing actual gear with vitality and thoughness stats does lower my healing power.
Anyone else did some research on this?
