When you open your inventory and click on the portal tome it opens a window behind it rather than what you would expect, on top of it. On my usual resolution this is just a matter of grimacing, moving the inventory window, and at least being able to use the buttons on the portal window (even though I do not play full-screen). On a laptop though ….
