Lag makes game unplayable
I haven’t experienced any performance issue. I’m not a support guy, but maybe you can check following:
- Have you installed any application lately which may taking up causing taking up your PC’s resource such as CPU or memory? Check task manager —> Processes tab to see if any of application is taking too much resource.
- Maybe some application is scheduled to run at certain time such as anti-virus software. Check task scheduler to see what is and when they are scheduled to run.
- Maybe you got virus or some sort. Try to run full scan of your PC. These sometimes chock PC’s performance.
- I don’t know how you checked your internet speed, but depending on which tool you used to check internet connection, it maybe have not showed true connectivity. If you use tool like window’s Resource Monitor it shows connection with a graph, so that you can be certain you are getting connection constantly.
- How about other games? Just to make sure it’s not your video card going bad.

Thx for ur reply
I did not install any applications since launch, GW2 was the last software installed.
I don hav any schedule program running on the back, and this lag Im experiencing does not happen percisely to the clock, its more or less at prime time but sometimes I get lag at 11 pm too.
Virus wise my antivirus did not pick up anything, and it is up to date. And more importantly it does not lag all the time, only at certain periods, I would imagine if its caused by virus the effect should b quite constant.
I checked my internet by google “DSL speed test”, done it on 2 different sites where they send u a package and track the time, I also tested by physically downloading a huge file which I get 350 -450 kb/s, this speed should b more than enough to play GW2.
Other offline games are running fine, I don hav any other MMO to test, and like I said if it was my PC, it should lag all the time instead of only at certain periods.
Another thing, I can tell the difference between a performance lag and a connection lag, in WvW when there is a lot of ppl then I lag, but that lag is constant, while this lag im experiencing is not constant at all, it wil b fine for a few sec, then suddenly everything pauses for 3 – 4 secs, after which everything start fast forwarding and teleporting in front me, that definitely is not the result of dropping frame rate.
Let me go into a bit more detail on wat Im experiencing.
Sometimes while in dungeon or in PvE, everyone would jus suddenly keep repeating their last action, for example ppl would keep running in one direction until hitting a wall, or keep swinging weapon at one place etc, few secs later everything teleports to where they actually are at.
I press the skill keys and only see the attack after 2 or 3 secs.
Sometime when Im running, I wil move forward then get teleported back then move forward again.
There are many, many people that have huge issues with lag. You can try and troubleshoot on your part, but this is a capacity issue @ Arena Net (and/or faulty servers/accounts), and nothing we can really do anything about. This used to happen from time to time in GW1, and it’s happening all over again for some of us in this game.
The lack of at least one official response to all the lag issues people are experiencing is a bit concerning.
It’s really been ridiculous since that patch. I’m not sure why whatever got screwed up still hasn’t just been reversed, but I can’t even play WvW without lagging completely out of the game at least a couple times.
The game is literally unplayable. My internet is working perfectly fine, and at very good speed. Guild Wars 2 is broken.

For you…I on the otherhand am playing fine,no lag,not in the morning, not in the afternoon, not in the evening, not at night.SO maybe there IS something wrong with either your pc,router, modem, connection,pc,ISP.Its easy to blame anet for all isnt it.Also ask yourself,if Guild wars 2 is “broken” explain why hundreds of people are currently playing with no problem and you aren’t ?
