Hello,

All day the launcher for numerous people in Australia (and maybe other places) has been stopping and not completing the patch download. There have been several posts on the facebook page asking about this. Please fix it so we can play!!

Me too – same thing. Stops at the 3rd last file at about 37Mb downloaded.

I even tried this article but it didn’t make any difference.

Just saw this link below about a new 64-bit launcher beta being introduced. This might be the cause of the problems.

Sounds similar. It downloads some files and then stops with no description of files above the download bar OR says downloading 0kb. It makes the play button greyed out because you cannot play it until the launcher downloads all the patches. Is this what is happening to you too?

Sounds similar. It downloads some files and then stops with no description of files above the download bar OR says downloading 0kb. It makes the play button greyed out because you cannot play it until the launcher downloads all the patches. Is this what is happening to you too?

I believe so. I haven’t seen it stop, but it’s still only 46% at the moment.

I am having same problem on both clients.

Also Australian and encountering this issue.
Tried patching via both 32bit and 64bit launchers. It still gets stuck at the same last 3 files, ~34mb into the patch file.

Same here, getting to about 34MB downloaded, then the installer flashes momentarily, amping up the install speed to about 16MB/sec then dwindling slowly down to 0KB/sec and stopping totally, until the installer gets switched off then restarted.

It’s like there some mysterious bug that jumps in at that 34MB mark though.

I’m also having this issue. I’ve tried using alternate download servers, and I’ve tried repairing the client — these doesn’t solve the issue either. The download just gets stuck around 35MB, no matter what I do.

I just used a VPN (Betternet) and I’ve patched ok. I’d suggest others try the same. Betternet is free too… Good luck all!

Yeah, I’ve heard VPNs work. Not sure how they work but it’s disappointing because we shouldn’t need to use them. It’s a good idea but for the public and most people who aren’t super computer savvy, we should just be able to play a game that we paid for. Not trying to insult you just disappointed with the whole situation

You are welcome! :-) From what I know, it’s malware free, but links to ad’s on both the PC and IOS version. No reasons not to uninstall when you have patched though.. you can always download again if you need too. :-D
I understand the frustration people are feeling. Betternet is easy to use as a work around, but I hope Anet get this issues resolved soon.

Never had a launcher issue before until now, whatever was fixed broke my launcher :P

2 files left, loading 40mb then stoping download and getting stuck till the morning (been 6 hourish)

Okei this is becoming silly, today I have a day off and due to an error not even a dev responds to I’m missing out to finally play HoT properly.

Still stuck at last 2 files (couldn’t get Betternet to use VPN) and looks like I’Ll have to wait till the next patch to hope it is fixed.

Ladies & Gentlemen. This problem has occurred in similar severity around this time last year & on some previous occasions. Yes it is annoying. The only cure available is to constantly restart your updater (client). There has never been a proper fix available. Stay with your computer. Keep restarting the client. Bit by painful bit it will gradually get the whole update till you can eventually log in. It will keep stopping. Kill it and restart it. It will get there no matter how long it takes. I too am going through it but have been through it before. Persistence gets you there. Good luck all.

I worked out what thunderbird suggested when I first ran into this problem. However it now seems to be stuck downloading the same 32mb of the last file and wont go any further. I hope something can be done.

Arena Net can u please help. I have been trying to fix this since yesterday. I put the 64 bit thing in the guild wars 2 folder but nothing happens.

I also have this problem;
On the last few files of the most recent patch, the download stops abruptly.

I even attempted to download the entire 24gb game from scratch, the problem persists.

I followed rezonate.6291’s advice and used TUNNELBEAR and it worked.
