1) War Machine = Bring an Anthology of Heroes to the defeat of the Champion Flame Legion Effigy in Fireheart Rise.

Killing the champ doesn’t award the collection item (I have killed it 3 times already)

2) The Sad End of Ascalon’s Heroes = Bring an Anthology of Heroes to the defeat of Ivor Trueshot, Armsman Pitney, Farrah Cappo, and Horace on the Old Duke’s Estate in Plains of Ashford.

This is the Battle in the Vault event chain.
I have spend like 10 hours in the map and the event didn’t spawn.

As a fellow sufferer I share your pain, however, I can offer some help.
1) War Machine – the text is wrong. You need the champion flame legion effigy in Plains of Ashford, he travels from Ignis Castrum to the Charr cenotaph (big statue of Pyre Fierceshot).

2) This one I recruited the community to help and used LFG to hop to maps where it was active. When I did manage to complete it it was night in-game in case that has any bearing.

I’m surprised you haven’t run into a problem with Kill Siegemaster Lormar as part of the Battle for Ascalon City chain, this took me some 70+ hours of camping in Plains of Ashford until I found it spawning.
