When I ask the master huntsman about “Improve Rifle Stock Crafting” I get asked to make 5 of each Small Haft in stead of 5 of each rifle stock. I can’t make any small hafts because they are from weapon smithing not hunstman crafting line.

Regardless of what it says, you need to craft rifle stocks.

Report the text bug in-game, and then just make the stocks (which are what you need).

I made the rifle stocks but the master huntsman wont accept them

That’s odd. I’ve completed this collection and I’m absolutely certain I did it by crafting rifle stocks. Perhaps you could post a screenshot of what you’ve crafted?

You were right. I had made oiled ancient stocks instead of normal ancient stocks. The master huntsmen accepted them despite the incorrect text.

Ouch, that sounds expensive, but at least you’re able to move on.
