I had finished fighting the Champion Megalodon in Cursed Shores(I know it says it is up again in the screen, that jerk respawns fast!), went to a safe wp to sort my inventory. I saw an item name I hadn’t seen before. It says to click it, so I do, and wow! I can pick from some stat choices. But…it is a level 18 weapon. I have never had an item of such low level drop in such a high area before.
I remember something about adding new items to help lower players and things like that, so maybe this is one of those, but the character who received it with her drop is only days away from two years old, has been 80 for a while now.
i think here is a second version of this kind of bug.
If i open der Mentor’s Kit, i get a level 18 Exo of my choise… And Mentor’s Kit is a container rewarded for players that have completed the final mission of the personal story.
So yeah, i did the final mission and get a level 18 item of my choise…well sounds like the same bug, to me.

I think you fail to understand the purpose of the “Mentor’s” kit.
You can choose a low level piece of exotic gear, (I don’t think you can get an exotic piece as low as lvl 18 anywhere else in the game) and you also get lvl up scrolls that can’t be used if you are Max Level (like the tomes of knowledge which give skill points to a lvl 80).
It is supposed to be a booster kit for your next toon.

Maybe you are right, but i kind of find it irritating, that a reward for the last mission contains something for another toon?
Its like, doing your work and getting toys for your kids, but you dont have any ôo.

It may be unrelated, but I know that personal story rewards are fixed with regards to level. That is, if you wait until level 80 to work on personal story, you will end up with a bunch of low level, crappy rewards you can’t possibly use. Is it possible that you got the item from completing part of your personal story as opposed to a drop in Cursed Shore?
I got one of these low-level drops in Dry Top the other day.
I don’t think its a bug. Since they’re account-bound even once you select stats, I’m assuming its meant to help people leveling alts.
Whether that’s a good idea or not is very debatable (I’m not really seeing the point of these types of gear when the chances of you needing an item for an alt is already iffy, the one I got is a torch and I already have a level 80 of all 3 classes that use torches, and even if I did need it, it would be useful for maybe 10 levels at most). But I think its intentional and not bugged, either way.
