Seeing as /bug in game has gotten me nowhere in two days, I’ll try here.

I did the Personal Story quest “Liberation” with my husband. We completed the mission, exited, and my husband got the reward, and the cleared quest log. I got a updated quest log telling me that I received an important letter, and to read my mail. There is no mail. The map prompt directs me to the spot where the last quest had been (the quest instance is gone). There is nothing at that spot.

This is getting tiresome, as no matter where in the world I go, I get a green arrow pointing me back to a spot in the middle of nowhere.

Please, can someone fix this?

I don’t think you understand. The quest will not end. I’m not trying to get the next part of the personal story. I’m trying to complete the part I’m on.

OK, but my husband, who had the same quest line got it finished. Also, the green dot is overriding all other local events, waypoints, etc on my map.

OK. Now I AM level 30. My quest log is still referencing the level 20 quest. There is no mail. This IS a bug. And now it is seriously hampering my game play, as my husband’s character has the level 30 quests and I have a level 20 quest that is unable to be completed.

You might try a -repair of the client, if logging out completely and logging back in was of no help. Also, make sure you delete all mail, and pick up (as odd as it sounds) any items/gold waiting for you at the TP.

THANK YOU! Thank you, so very much. The repair worked like a charm. You have been more helpful than the officials who just stubbornly stick to the party line of “wait until the next story line level”. I hope that they read this, and realize that I actually had a problem.

Happy to be of assistance. I’m glad you are back on track. Don’t be too harsh on the Devs, there have just been so many ‘bug’ reports about the new PS functions, I’m sure they are overwhelmed. Jeffrey is great, posts very often to help players with the PS, and has been known to offer the same advice. (It’s where we lowly players learn what advice to offer.) =)

I have the same problem that happened last night… I was in a party of 2 the other person was in control of the quest and finished the quest and I got no offer to finish nor the quest rewards and equipment. Now I am stuck with the quest unfinished Saying “you have an important Letter” Read your Mail" ….No Mail, the instance marker still shows in front of the cave where the Liberation quest started and I cannot do anything to end this storyline quest…..I went back, went through the cave, there is no glowing spot to get back into instance quest in front cave (even though it shows on my world map), No Mail in maibox, I tried rebooting and the above recommendation and repaired client three time but nothing gives me anything to finish this storyline!!! I left a bug report and a support request here but no one has responded!!! If I have lost this character I am done with GW2 .

Someone Please contact me ASAP!

For an individualized response, you need to submit a request using the webform to the CS Team. Top of Page – Support – Submit a Request.

If you have not received a response after 72 hours, you can post your ticket number in the Sticky, ‘Tickets for Review’ over in Account Issues.

I have put in a request as you instructed its quite disturbing as it seems no way to move forward on storyline with this character and invested some gems with equipment and such on it so far….thanks you seem to be the only person to respond….

Is there anyway to abort a Storyline quest and retry it? I cannot find one

And I am guess beside submitting a bug report which I have read seem never to get any attention there is no way to contact a GM in game like other games I have played?

As stated on the in-game Bug Report window, there will be no responses to those reports. As noted above, for individualized responses, you must submit a ticket to the CS Team. There is no way to abort a Personal Story quest or line. If you have accepted another players Order storyline arc, you will be placed back on your own story-line at the end of an arc.

SOLUTION: Repair your game AFTER you reach level 30!

First time posting on the forum just to say that I had the same bug, after the last dialogue my character got “stuck”, I couldn’t talk to any npc or leave the instance map. The quest log on the right said it was completed but nothing popped on my screen saying so nor I could get my rewards, I was forced to leave the instance map when my partner did so. Outside my quest log had the text "You have an important Letter” “Read your Mail” and there was nothing on the mail. Also the quest indicator on the map was pointing to the place where Liberation starts, but it was swirl indicator. I immediately repaired the game but nothing changed (I was level 23 I guess…). So I continued to level my character and when I reached 30 I tried to repair again and it worked! Now I can play with my girlfriend again! :3

Hey guys, I just completed the mission liberation with my friend and It didn’t complete it for me. Same as what has been stated before, no mail and all that. However, my problem lies with the “repair”. Everywhere I look, all I see is “locate your GW2.exe file” but I don’t have one, all I have is an “application” file, a “.dat” file and a “.tmp” file.. I can’t for the life of me find this elusive “.exe” file and I downloaded the game from the official website.. Anybody able to offer some insight? I’ve already done a complete re-install of the game but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My boyfriend got the same exact issue of OP you should look into this quest…

Just last night I ran into this issue. Same scenario as others who have posted here. Considering the age of this post I am quite disappointed that this has not been addressed by the developers. Validated that repairing the game before level 30 does not resolve the issue. I’ve attached a screenshot of this area showing the quest line in the upper right hand side, the mini-map indicating the quest marker, yet on screen the marker is not there and you cannot progress. I am rather new to this game but since I spent money on the purchase of the Ultimate Edition and continue to spend money on in-game purchases (Gems) I feel as though my money should be going towards the continued support and maintenance of this game. I’m sure several others feel the same way. I am asking the GW2 developers to please resolve this issue for everyone, not just me. Repairing the game is a work around that will hopefully address my issue when I reach level 30 but this is not a valid solution to a very real problem.

Just letting you all know that the Liberation bug STILL EXISTS. Just got hit by it. Husband was in control of the instance, at the end I got the same option to complete/continue. No rewards, no way to leave Liberation until he left and I was booted from the instance. Same “You have mail” and an arrow pointing to a, now, nonexistent instance.

My character is 21 atm, so will wait til 30 to see if the repair will work.

UPDATE~ used tomes to get to 30. Did the repair. Repair worked.

I just wanted to bump this UNRESOLVED issue up by saying that my wife just had this problem.

This thread contained all the information we needed to fix it. Level to 30 then repair.

If your repair stops responding, just give it a few minutes. It does eventually start repairing!

This is still -unresolved- as of this morning. I entered the instance with my boyfriend and he received his rewards and he completed the part of the story, I however did not. I submitted a bug report and screenshot along with it.

I can also confirm that repairing the client below level 30 does -not- fix the issue.

I realize it’s not the core issue, but to the earlier poster who complained of the green arrow overriding local stuff:

You can change the User Interface > Content Guide option to change the behavior of the arrow so it won’t override local stuff. I didn’t know this was an option for a long time, and it’s especially handy when there’s an event daily.

Just hit this bug myself. Frankly in disbelief that a bug like this can exist almost a year after first being reported, and that the “repair” function has to be done outside of the client? Absolutely ridiculous.

Are you L30 or over, and if so, have you read the letter sent for the quest?

Me and my GF just experienced this same bug. She was in control of the quest and completed it successfully, while I received no reward and got “stuck” without mail.

This bug was first reported towards the end of 2014. How is it that it is still an issue? BUMP!
