Since Draconis Mons lighting and nVidia 10xx cards came up, I’d be curious if anyone else sees these (see attachment).

This is the only area that ever triggers this from my card, and only in the lower right corner of the GW2 window, but it doesn’t show on GW2 generated screenshots (only if I take the screenie with Windows itself).

Bonus: my minimap is usually there in the corner, mostly obscuring this flickering checkerboard, but not completely. The minimap is not in any way distorted (save for the semi-transparent parts where the checkerboard shows through). It becomes a lot more apparent if I move the minimap to the other corner. Especially well visible in the recording spot near Webby Mother.

I believe this is related to the other issues discussed in this thread regarding 10xx cards and shadows. The checkerboard glitch should be fixed when that shadows fix goes out again.

Hi sorry if this is a late post but I am on a gtx 1070 by EVGA.

I get a corrupt/hatched shadow playing in some areas with bloom shadow effects. It also looks weird when the shadow comes across the HUD.

Ascalonian Catacombs. The starting part, as well as p2 boss area.

Underground Facility fractal. Where you have to place 9 bombs.

Harathi Hinterlands. Area where you escort the giant and do the guild rush.

This is not my video, but is posted by another gw2 player and shows the problem I have been having.

Here he is in the Harathi Hinterlands area I mentioned earlier.

All my graphic settings are high. Apart from character model limit which is on lowest.
I currently run the latest drivers and I have tried using older ones with the same result.

Hope it gets fixed soon. I actually RMAed my card thinking it was a hardware problem. When I finally got it back, showed the same problem.

I also have a 780ti and a 980 and both do not have this problem.

not a checkerbox lighting bug, but a complete darklight filter that flickers in the tangled depths. It may not be very apparant from the two screenshots, but one is darker than the other, and it’s flickering is quite headache inducing.

EDIT: I should probably specify that it changes with camera angle

i saw this morning, in the teku nuhoch tree. i go up here every day for provisioner tokens and this is the first time i noticed it.

i have a gtx 770, it flickers from light to dark as the camera angle changes.

Thanks for the report and posting the video. I am able to reproduce this when standing in that spot. The ever important first step to tracking down what’s going on.

Yup shadow bug seems to be fixed but light flickering appear again. Checked it in arah. It a bit batter then was befor btw. I noticed less/none flickering when i near but it still flickering in far. Checked in arah inside laps just near dungeon enter.

Hi,

forwardrender is pretty important for us wine users out there. For us, the game is more or less CPU bound and still forwardrender gives a big increase in fps.

You can play without it, but the you need some really beefy cpu.

I have a GTX 1060. Similar issues with lights going on and off as the camera moves in Tangled Depths.

The problem goes away if I turn off the Light Adaption function.

The light flickering should be fixed in the next release.

Regarding forward rendering mode, I did not consider the wine case. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I’m not sure how we’ll proceed, but it is good to know there is a legitimate case for it.

I found shadow bug again in arah near belka boss. Btw path 2 belka boss dont start cutscene very often and you cant kill her. Soo only options its restart this bug old as gw2 itself and need to be fixed too.

Corrupted shadows still persist after the patch.
On the ice elemental there’s a weird split with the lighting on his body and the other is in Sorrows Embrace dungeon.

Hello all, i back to Guild Wars, so now i will bumping this thread with new info, and poke anet devs and nvidia with this problem. And for start, mirrors in this location all had shadow bug, apper at high shadow setting, disapper at low.

It’s doing the checkered shadows again in the beta preview in the area of the bank with the water fountain. If shadows are on and you turn on reflections on all it disappears. If you turn off reflections it reappears and won’t go away until shadows are completely off.

I really wish they would fix this It’s been a year since I’ve posted/submitted tickets. The patch they put out fixed only very few of the corrupted shadows. There’s so many in the game it’s ridiculous..

I also have the artifacting/flickering shadow bug. so far its shown up in ascalon catacombs as well as a few fractals

i am also using a founders edition gtx 1070 card.

hopefully this gets fixed soon

Hey friends!

We know some of you are still having some issues and/or are seeing them anew. If you have time while responding to this thread can you let me know:

  1. What card you guys are currently seeing the issues on (even if you’ve responded before)?
  2. What map are you in when you observe this issue? 
  3. Please add a screenshot with your minimap showing in the screenshot (this helps QA in trying to identify the location so we can give a location for lights to programming) 
  4. Please add a second screenshot with your graphics options showing so we can get a quick read on what settings you are using when the report is made.
  5. Please add what issue are you reporting on? 
    • Lighting is dark to the point of no visibility (sometimes areas are darker by design).
    • Shadows having a blocky or corrupted looking appearance. 
    • Flickering shadows.
    • Something else entirely (please briefly describe what you are experiencing).

There are several issues that can be at play and we can investigate case by case.

Sorry haven’t replied in so long, yes after recent patches it is still there.

1.Shadows having a blocky or corrupted looking appearance.
2.Flickering shadows.

Still persistent in the same areas.
I am still using the GTX 1070 video card.

For all my posts. They already had screenshots and description where i got this bug, so i can add i using GTX 1080. And i think its :

i dont have any screen shots. but ive experienced the blocky/ flickering shawdows on my gtx 1070 in these areas so far

undergroup facility in the room with the fans

asalon catacombs, path 3, the room with the various mounds of dirt that you have to kill.

when entering the room in ascalon catacombs the issue seemed stronger towards the right side of the room (when entering)

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti here.

I still get shadow flickering – e.g. in Arah path 1 in the “cannon” room right before the boss, where you have to carry the crystals through. Sadly I don’t have a screenshot of that.

Also, I get the checkerboard artifacts in Draconis Mons around the minimap – please see also the attached screenshot.

Driver verion 385.41 – but happened also on previous versions.

-The Amnoon Oasis – Building with Trading Post and Bank, and Casino with Choya’s fighting
-Ascalonian Catacombs Dungeon – The entire dungeon is pretty bad especially at the end of Path 3 with the Giant Skelk.
