Lighting Pull Bug Killing Dry Top
i must admit these crystals are awful if it comes to comfortable movement…. there should be far more waypoints in this map (vertical)
There’s an obvious workaround. Aim for a backstop, or underaim the jump. Game on!
Tried all those. Thanks for the ideas tho :-)

There’s an obvious lack of experience with this issue, too. Cos that DOES NOT WORK. Seriously ANet, would it kill you to not need a ground target for that first one so people who do have latency can PLAY THE NEW kittenING CONTENT??
The Lightning Pull seems to have a 75% chance of missing your intended target.
What I’ve started to do is aim short, so that a far-miss rolls you over the ledge, getting you the aspect.
Short-jumping doesn’t work for me, and believe me I tried it for HOURS lol…
There is a workaround for those of us it doesn’t work for though, I finally managed it by getting the lightning-pull aspect, then aiming back at the start (the outcropping of rock that juts out near the waypoint), where you can overshoot without a problem, then lightning-pulling across to the pillar with the jumping aspect from there
Took me one or two tries to get it right initially, but it works like a charm every time
I had no problem on my sylvari or human characters with Lightning Pull, but for some reason on my charr it’s horribly inaccurate and I overshoot (or only go a few feet total) almost all the time. Took a horrid 10 minutes or so to get past the starter area. Finally made it by aiming for a few feet short of where I wanted to go, though I almost went over the other edge still.
You could probably get a mesmer friend to port you from the ground up to that last shelf that allows you to get to the rest of the zone, though, if you’re unable to get it to work. Once you unlock the other waypoint, you’re no longer locked out of the rest of the zone.

Any progress on this bug? Just wasted an hour on it.

Actually I have a lot of experience with this, given my connection woes. But I also have plenty of experience with Sanctum Sprint, it being my favorite of the activities. So, yeah, it does work, but apparently not for you? I’m still serious about aiming for the backstop, as it seems to work the best for me. There’s a level below the top of that tricky column where you can still get up to the top with a jump. Shoot for it, and the column should stop your forward momentum. If that isn’t working, you’ll have to give specifics.
What exactly are you calling the backstop? I have tried everything and it is really starting to annoy me.
Probably the platform in front of and below the pillar you’re supposed to aim for. I wouldn’t bother with it; that doesn’t work either, it still shoots you right over the top pillar.
The most reliable way I’ve found is going backwards onto the cliff above, but that only has a 10% success rate too. However it means you don’t have to jump all the way around to try again.
Generally, I just avoid using that waypoint, but on entering the zone for the first time you don’t have a choice.
If it makes you feel any better, I’m now experiencing this one in spades. Not only at the entrance, but to obtain one of the lost coins from part 3.
You may have better luck if, instead of going directly from the jump crystal to that stele, go back through the sandfall, past the merchant, around the chasm and attempt to make the jump from the opposite side.
this has been an annoying bug for months…
Honesty is not insulting, stupidity is.

Ironically, Experimental Rifle is more reliable than Lightning Pull aspect.
No need to thank me.
