Guild Wars 2

I’ve done this chapter twice now, and every time I complete all three consoles without any hiccup. Than I need to talk to my friends to find out what they want me to do, but I cannot communicate with any of them. I’m stuck and I need to log out into my character select screen to leave the instance, only to do it over again and end up with the same results. Help please.

You can also try a -repair of the client, in case of corrupted file(s). ‘Support – Search – Repair’

“Repair” does not work for many.

I had to uninstall and reinstall – all while emailing Anet support for two weeks straight.

I imagine -repairing the client only works for corrupted file(s). It won’t work for other issues. It also won’t work if the file sits on a bad sector, etc.

It’s worth trying before a complete re-install, which uses bandwidth and time.

Of course, each individual can choose to address issues in any way they desire.

-repair always works — it might not fix any particular issue, since as inculpatus says, there are many types of possible issues
However, it’s a lot quicker than a full re-install

Another alternative is to use windows to make a copy of your gw2.dat file — if it’s on a bad sector, the copy won’t be (probably) and you can delete the old one.

Although it does not fix your problem.. did you consider letting someone else start the story part and let them finish it to bypass this for now so you can continue?

Thank you for all the advice. I’m going to try the repair, but I’m not holding my breath.

Unfortunately, I know nobody who would be able to start this story instance for me, since people have either already done it, or not unlocked the chapter.

It doesn’t matter if a player has already done it; you would still progress through the chapter, I believe.
