Noticed recently that the client or wev doesn’t place me back where I logged out, in situations when my game play includes zones transition.

This a new problem for anyone else?

Very uncool.

I noticed something like this a few hours ago. I was by the WP in NE Iron Marches and when I quickly relogged it put me down at the south of the map by that WP.

I noticed it too. Thought it was intentional as a bandaid against exploits…

Yeah sometimes it brings you to the first waypoint in the zone. It’s really weird. Dunno if they did this on purpose so players wouldn’t be killed upon logging into a contested area.

There are threads (or a merged thread) over in the Bugs sub-forum addressing this issue. You may want to ask the Mods to merge your thread over there, where those responsible for these kinds of fixes can see it.

Good luck.

I’ve noticed this too. Happened in the last patch. I logged out near the shadow behemoth and then logged out to download the patch and when i logged back in i was near divinity’s reach

Happened to me a one time a couple of days back in Queensdale. I was by the level 2 heart and went to character select to afk a couple of minutes. When I went back into the game my character was moved over to the Shaemoor waypoint.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

For a few weeks, I’ve been having an issue where I’d log a character out at, say, Divinity’s Reach or Cursed Shores, and the next time I log back in, I’m at the Trader’s Forum in Lion’s Arch.

This is a bug that has been reported several times recently. I’m sure the Devs are aware, and once they determine the cause, and figure out how to fix it, they will.

Good luck.

edit: didn’t see this older topic, just got merged. I’ll leave my stuff anyways:

Problem: Very often after leaving LA via WP and relogging on the map we selected, will lead to being ported back to Lions Arch. More concretely, always on the exact same point just south-southeast of where the old MF was.

Repro Steps:

  • Go to Lions Arch with a character
  • waypoint for example to tequatl
  • hit F12, select char select
  • login with the same character again

Different Behaviours:
If you switch to another map before porting (I now often leave LA through the south gate to get to bloodtide first) you will not be getting ported back to LA after relogging, but will instead be teleported around on the map. Example: leave LA through the south gate. port to splintered coast. relog. you will now be standing at Braggi’s Stead (I think, anyway, always at the same position) in sparkfly fen.

PVP:
Apparently this also affects pvp, after leaving a match, people will start near the gate again, instead of where they were before joining the match (did not confirm it myself, but I think I saw it happen as well, just didn’t notice).

this obviously is annoying due to the doubled loading times as we have to load back to LA before being able to port to where we wanted to be again. additionally, the multiple waypoint cost is getting noticeable as well.

Same issue. Getting pretty annoying. May be character specific (not sure, I’ve been focussing on one character recently).

Also was looking for merged topic, but couldn’t find one.

Never got portet to another zone, but to another place quite some times now.
In Dredgehaunt Cliffs its always the entrance to Lornars Pass, and in Timberline Falls
its next to the entrance to Dredgehaunt Cliffs.

Happened on different characters btw.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Wondering if this is related to cutting through the PVP lobby.

I often go pvp lobby > LA > city portal or wp from LA.

There’s also a weird thing about the PVP Lobby, when I first port in, it looks like I’m stuck in place. But I’m actually not, I can point towards the LA lobby and go forward, and the game will treat me as moving, even though the camera still thinks i’m stuck at the port in point. So, I’ll pop through the LA portal even while the camera is still showing me stuck in place. I’m wondering if this might be glitching their player location info.

After Brief Testing: The PvP Lobby/HoM seems to be involved..

  • Go to HoM (PvP Lobby), then exit to LA.
  • Log out to char screen. Char screen shows your char as being in HoM, not in LA.
  • Log back in. HoM loading screen flashes up briefly, then is replaced with LA loading screen., and player is dropped at the Trader’s Forum.

Basically, I think the game partially thinks that you’re in HoM and starts trying to load you there. But then it decides that you’re not in HoM, at which point it drops you to some default spot.

Could use more testing.

Questions:

  • Fixed by waiting long enough?
  • Fixed by logging all the way out of the game?

Update: Had this happen again w/o cutting through PvP Lobby. This time, I WP’ed from straits of devastation to Malchor’s Leap, then logged out in a few seconds. When I logged back in, I had been relocated. Checked on login screen and it showed me as being in SoD.

So, it’s not pvp lobby specific, but the game still seems confused about where i am.

There’s some sort of database error involved.

Not sure if the db error goes away after a bit, or if you have to do something to fix it. E.g. logout/in, login/out on another character etc.

I don’t know if it has to do with any pvp update, but characters on the selection screen being shown as in heart of the mists is pretty old, I’ve seen that months ago before this bug ever appeared. usually when I finish up doing something with one of my toons I go to LA via heart, maybe sell a bit then logout to switch to another toon. if I wasn’t staying in LA for too long, it always showed heart of the mists as the last location. it might have affected loading times a bit, but not too much.
