CURRENT FUNCTIONALITY:
Currently I can select a target with either “tab” or “left-click-down”.

PROBLEM:
If I am running in one direction with W, and then try to left-click-drag to look in the opposite direction (behind me), I will often lose target.

This is because it changes my target based on the “left-click-down” event, this is problematic.

The “left-click-down” only event should only be used for moving the camera, not changing target.

HOW TO FIX THIS:
Selecting a target should be only with
“tab” OR “left-click-down” + “left-click-up”

NOT on “left-click down” only.

I absolutely agree, this is the most annoying functionality currently in the game.

Today, for example, during the fight with Claw of Jormag a big minion spawned behind me while I was attacking the dragon and covered my entire screen. At that point my options were:
-risk dying because I can’t see anything;
-right-click rotate and face away from the dragon = be useless for a few seconds;
-left-click rotate, lose target and spend ~10 seconds to re-target that 1 point you can attack which is constantly moving – major loss of usefulness.

I think targeting in general is broken. I frequently lose my target (not just my LOS) when my ranger over-kites and the mob ends up behind me. Having my attacks stop makes sense. Having my ranger forget what she was doing? Not so much…
