Well it looks like my original thread got deleted for highlighting the dirty state of gw2 at the moment.
So new thread:
When is anet fixing the dirty lag ruining the game?
Will anet be compensating me for the several gold lost in missing event rewards, armor costs, and other event associated losses?
Chances are: no chance! anet have become money grabbing.
Real shame, gw2 had soo much potential, but they have wasted it.
/waits for thread delete & forum ban
What are you experiencing lag with? The only time I experience lag is during the first boss events immediately after reset, in which case it’s usually skill lag. Aside from that, the lag is either minimal or on your end (most of the time). Aside from a fluke a few days ago in fractals, I haven’t had a disconnect in months.
And no, they’re not going to “compensate” you for missed rewards as there’s likely no way to prove which disconnects were due to issues on their end and not yours. This has nothing to do with money grabbing.
I’ve been burned by lag and disconnects at the end of an event before. But no where near ‘several gold’ was lost. I had repair bills and no rewards, but it wasn’t as bad as losing even close to 1 gold.
But it sucks, none the less.
The several gold in repair costs is over the past several weeks & several dozen/hundred events.
Along with missing out on a lot of event rewards (which includes karma, exp, wxp, and item losses).
lesser times it is just skill lag or rubber banding, but often times it’s more as if the server and the client are out of sync by several minutes (guildies tell me an event is finished, and boss still has 50% health for me, for example).
It strikes me that Anet has some kind of impact limiting code in place, meaning the majority get perfect play, but the unlucky few get to ‘enjoy’ this terrible experience during high server load.
blablabablabla
ANet has fulfilled its part of the bargain when you bought the game: You pay, you receive your goods..
Don’t forget that this is a free-to-play game, so they have no responsabilities whatsoever to their users (although of course they want to keep their gem customers happy)..
But nevertheless: You lost some ingame stuff by playing a free-to-play game, and expect some compensation? Srsly?
Will ANet also give me a free precursor when I have to work this weekend (while I normally would have gamed for two days)?

Proof? This looks like baseless speculation to me that it targets only certain players… The only “impact limiting code” (as you call it) they have is the use of overflow servers. Prioritizing player A’s connection over player B’s connection in the very same instance makes absolutely no sense when they already have the overflow system.
Back at my parent’s house, I have serious lag issues from about 6-11pm from what appears to be user load on my ISP’s network, yet here at college I have no lag issues at any time of day (different/better ISP). Try playing another game or montoring download speeds at different times of day to see if this might be the problem. This really looks like a connection issue on your end :/
