I’m guessing this must be a graphical bug. The butterfly is not showing on the Luminescent Pauldrons (heavy), when equipped on an Asura.

Asura (and Charr) use the male version of the armor which get no butterflies.

Yeah I want my female Asura and charr to have butterflies too! I was disappointed in that decision.

In my opinion, the armor is great but someone made really poor decisions. The second version of the armor (that is the luminescent one) should instead have butterflies rather than being luminescent. This way, everyone could have butterflies instead of making it Norn, Human, Sylvari Female only. Everyone who does not find them “manly” enough could just stick to version one. But that is none of my business.
