Guild Wars 2

I’ve been trying to download the update since it first went live. My Mac client looks like it’s trying to download a client patch, and then just sits there pinging the server every 30 seconds. It doesn’t even come up with a login window. Many people appear to have successfully downloaded and installed the update, so I am curious if there is an issue with my client trying to update itself before it downloads the new content.

It’s been doing this for 4 hours now. Surely it should have done something already.

SOLUTION:

Go to your GW2 application. Right-click and choose “Show Package Contents”
Navigate Contents -> Resources -> transgaming -> c_drive -> GW2
Rename gw2.exe to oldgw2.exe
Rename gw2.tmp to gw2.exe.
Launch GW2.

The launcher will start and will begin the download. I’m downloading now.

Edit: per GMGus this fix is only a short-term solution. Unless you revert back to the gw2.exe file future patches won’t work. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4fiind/mac_stalling_client_download/d296dx1

Also grrr. Many posts about the problem in the support forum, a dev posts on reddit and not the tech support form.
