I was wondering this too, but figured out why we both don’t have it:

1. You trashed the first versions because
2. The complete edition had better stats. The complete edition is also not a direct chain upgrade because
3. The complete edition was, after act 2 of 2012 halloween activated, obtainable before obtaining Mad Memoires the first version.

I’m not entirely sure if I have the first version sitting in a characters inventory, but I believe I trashed it sometime ago. Seeing as its not a direct item chain upgrade like legendaries, fractal back pieces and the spinal blades, we won’t get it unlocked.

I believe item progression applies to those items that are created with recipes, and as such the Mad Memories would not be considered part of such a progression.
