Magic find gear broken by downed state
The consumable food that gives 40% magic find under boon does’t work
This has nothing to do with food, though.

I know but there is food that also never worked just saying and its like 5 silver on tp that troll.
I’m having the very same problem I submitted on reddit today. Our MF gear after getting to downed state bugs and our magic find percentage gets decreased. The only way to fix it is to unequip and equip our armor.
It has nothing to do with the boons, food buffs and boosts.
It is either a display bug or MF is really bugged.
My screens : one before getting downed (62% of MF) and one after getting downed (44%MF). Doesn’t matter if being under effect of the boon, boost or food buff.

125% before downed, 80% after. -.-
Tarnished Coast
Ahh… that;s what happened to me last night.
I checked it too, it’s true that it is obviously broken.
Edit: On further investigation it seems to ignore the +3% main-mf stat of your gear after downed. Amulets don’t seem to be affected.

Giver’s weapons/armor and sigil of corruption are broken too.
is switching to town cloth and then armor again fix it ? or just re-equip armor ?
I noticed this happening to me last night as well. I went from 105% MF (which is my base from my gear) to 93%. I downed myself to see if it was my sigil of luck messing up and I went down again to 75%. As someone noted elsewhere, I think this is what my MF would be if you ignored the +3% on all of my gear (not including the +% from the runes/stones)

Yes, switching to town clothes does fix it ! Nice idea!
But it still needs a fix. I don’t really feel like switching clothes every single time i get downed.

I can confirm seeing this bug on a lvl 80 Asura Mesmer with exotic lvl 80 Traveler’s gear and six pcs. rune of scavenging. I actually have to log out to the character screen to recover the expected percent magic find. I’ll have to try the town clothes method next time, but in my case re-equiping all pcs. of equipment did not recover the full percent magic find.
It looks like food buffs (Omnomberry Bar) are also bugged, logging out to the character screen seem the only way to recover the full percent magic find.
The MF display in the hero panel doesn’t always display the correct number, but (according to Ryan Diederich), the true amount of MF is used when you roll for loot. This _sounds- like the same thing (and might apply to other buffs, not just MF).
I noticed this as well. I added up all my items and the small 3% here and there weren’t being tallied for me at times, just what came from the Runes. I was wondering my my magic find number kept fluctuating by 6% here, or 9% there, et cetera. I mostly noticed this while fighting Claw, which you can imagine I was downed several times
By the way, when I noticed this, I didn’t have any magic find on my weapons, and I wasn’t switching gear when I noticed this occurrence.
Got defeated on purpose just to test this, and Magic find went from 141 to 123 ( a loss of 18%)
Sigil of Luck was not in use, nor any food buffs.
Lol wow. These bugs have likely been around from the beginning and we are only now being able to see it. People have probably been getting screwed out of MF since day 1, and omnomberry cream has been worthless other than for boon upkeep this whole time.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Sounds like intentional to me, more loot means more inflation… Another money sink dynamic, this one really sneaky.

The developer just explained it’s a display issue, not one that affects your drops.
It was explained in the other thread that the hero panel isn’t able to display conditional stats, such as magic find increases that only happen while under the effects of a boon. In contrast, this bug relates to magic find from magic find armor itself, which should be affecting the wearer at all times but for some reason something is changing after entering the downed state.
While this could very well be another display bug, the two cases seem rather different. Since there is no way for us as players to know whether we must re-equip our armor after every rally to get its full benefits, an official response on this issue would be most helpful.

still does not work, can confirm this with screen shot
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
I’ve done Extensive testing of this issue.
• Boons (Boosters/Foods/Sigil of Luck) seem to be unaffected.
• Upgrades on armor are also not affected.
But I can confirm. I’ve tested Exotic, Rare, and Masterwork Armor.
Each of the tests with Exotic/Rare/Masterwork gear, all conclusively showed that each armor lost it’s Base 3% Magicfind upon entering a downed state.
It also does not matter if you Rally, Rez by player, or Rez by WP.
The only ways to restore the MagicFind, is to A) Repair the armor, B) Re-equip the armor, or C) Hotswap to townclothes and back (I currently have right-ctrl set to toggle this, allowing me to tap it twice.)
Note: Restoring the MagicFind via the townclothes option or manually re-equiping the items, tends to still produce a not-so-accurate Magicfind Percent, Give or Take about 10%. Still tracking this variable but so far unable to locate it.

Logging out to the character select screen and back in also fixes it.

Just want to add that my armor isn’t actual magic find armor. It’s lvl 78 berserker armor with pirate/traveler runes. The trinkets are magic find though.
earrings/rings/back = masterwork w/ 4% magic find jewel
amulet = The Golden Lotus w/ 20% magical infusion.
First time I was downed I lost 18%
But later that day I wasn’t wearing any MF gear aside from a Queen’s Necklace with 20% magical infusion, and the MF stat didn’t go down at all when I was downed.
Who here actually believes this is a display bug? We already had a myriad of things updating a central MF variable, which should feed the loot rolls. So to display this amount you can either:
- Simply display it (duh).
- Create a second set of complicated intricate functions that update the display, rather than just display the variable you already have.
We are clearly being lied to; this has clearly been broken since launch.
@ Lambent – since it’s only the Base MF thats affected, you would lose the 18% (3% per each 6 pieces of trinkets) regardless of the upgrades you have. For example. Exotic Helm with Rune of Traveler = 13% (3% Base + 10% Rune) – once downed, that becomes 10% (you lose the base 3%, but keep the Rune)
@Brave – I beleive it’s functional.

Interested to find this thread, since I have also found this out myself by testing today. Loss of up to 36% (it’s also true for back, trinkets, rings etc depending on what you are using). Also interested that Anet have chosen not to respond to what is clearly a major bug since launch.
Anet, want to answer?
Gaile?
Still very curious if this is just a display issue or a real reduction in efficacy.
99% positive this is not just a display bug, since not only do magic find items items stop working after down but also giver’s weapons & armor, condition duration runes (Lyssa etc.) as well as any building sigils (corruption etc.). These latter items stop calculating as reflected in tooltips, hero panel, and in actual practice by observing the duration or damage of conditions. Here is the link to the thread specifically dealing with this new bug: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Giver-s-weapon-bugged-after-death/first#post1962917
As of this moment switching between town clothes and armor is the easiest way to get everything to start working again after being downed. Of course good luck trying to work that into your rotation in dungeons, fractals, or pvp.

Thanx alot for this info. i was going to char select screen and then back into game to fix this, town cloths seems like a much easier option, considering it can save your buff from luck stacking. wicked!!! <3 happier now
Two other threads are pointing out this issue as well:

Have u rolled with 300MF? try it and see the difference. never stay in the same area killing the same stuff for to long tho. Drop rate does go down after a while. MF or no MF.
-Fixed a bug that caused some items to lose their functionality after a player has gone into a downed state.
From the patch notes. You’ve been consistently scammed with MF. Not that you wouldn’t get more drops, only that you were not getting what you payed for. Money sink you said? kitten right!
