I haven’t had this fractal in a while so I am not sure if it’s a new behavior. Mai Trin’s teleporting attack cannot be dodged. Everyone in the party noticed. A group that had not trouble burning through fotm 50 ended up wiping out several times on this boss before cheesing it through by stacking blocks and reflects.
Can anyone else confirm this?

Hilariously, reflecting her teleport shot doesn’t deal damage to her, but instead teleports the player to her.

Mai Trin was ‘fixed’ to scale with Fractal level just about 2 weeks ago. (I have read that it is Horrik that scales with the level, Mai Trin doesn’t seem to, at least when her shield buff is on. She has always practically one hit zerker characters, well, close enough to, but is now worse)

Reflecting prevents the damage and is a life saver. In fact, it is practically required now, and I had started to enjoy thief in fractals, but when we get Mai Trin, I immediately switch to mes and change my build almost completely, just to have a lot of blocks and reflects, and try to get targeted all the time.

I did dodge it once I thought? But by accident. The timing isn’t easy I don’t think, but I haven’t fought the ‘new’ Mai Trin enough to start trying things like that.

And your example is why they ‘fixed’ it, level 50 shouldn’t be completely easy. Now though, it’s far more difficult at the lower levels than it should be, and some get very frustrated from it. I find it just annoyingly long now and it does require more team coordination and playing extremely defensively.

She has two different ranged attacks. One is electric bolts, which I had no trouble dodging. The other is well telegraphed pistol shot that teleports her to the target and one-shots most people… and apparently cannot be dodged.

That’s the one I thought I dodged, Maybe it was the timing of it, but I didn’t take damage and thought it said evade, or I remembered it wrong, idk. Haven’t faced Mai Trin that often, we’ve had a very bad (well actually very good) habit of getting Molten instead. But normally I’m trying to block it or reflect it, and dodging Horrik’s shots. It was just that I wasn’t expecting to see evade(, and I know it did say evade, maybe it was the spread shot but if so I didn’t see the attack, either way she’s mean!).

You might have evaded Horrik’s AoE and her teleporting shot got blocked by Aegis.

But if you can get a video of you evading it I would really appreciate that

That may be it, maybe it was horrik’s and I just didn’t see the ring because I was focused more on Mai Trin, and maybe the guardian did hit me with Aegis. I just knew I saw evade. Have to say it is rather funny to reflect her attack.

Mai Trin’s teleporting attack indeed cannot be evaded by dodging nor by skills that makes you evade all attacks, like mesmer’s Blurred Frenzy. It can be reflected, although deals no damage to her, do not applies conditions, and person who reflects it, gets teleported to her instead. This attack can be blocked, which is probably best action to take. It was this way, at least since she was introduced to fractals.

That’s what I had thought but was surprised to see it say evade, hence the curiosity. Anyways, reflects work if you expect it, and blocks are very effective.

Yeah, Mai Tran’s version of the Thief’s Shadowshot has never been dodgeable, even in her original LS release, only blocked or reflected. With her scaling still being a bit funky, someone with a bunch of blocks or reflects at max range (Mesmers are probably the best, since they can still do damage at that range, but I’ve done it as an engi, and guardians and warriors are both capable) to block that attack is pretty much a must.

At the very least, it is important to instill on any party members who haven’t beaten her yet that the absolute worst place to be if you’re low on health in that fight is further away from her than anyone else.
