Hi,
Lately, I seem to have a bug that causes my ingame mail to have a cap of 5 instead of 10. I was not receiving any mails, and after deleting one of the five I had one of the missing mails appeared. I deleted another one, the next mail appeared a.s.o.

I am sure I only had 5 mails in my inbox, the game even told me so (5/10). The mail icon was not red, though. I am also certain that this is a new issue, I had more than 5 mails in my inbox a while ago.
Strange thing is, it seems to work fine for all of my friends… ?

Hi, nachdenki — I mentioned that I was having a similar problem over in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Not-receiving-ingame-mail-from-other-players/first#post658593

…except that MY counter was stuck at 6/10.

It turns out I had four ArenaNet messages about the Halloween event in my in-box that apparently don’t show up on the “__ of 10” counter.

As soon as I started clearing out some of the old e-mails, my new ones started showing up!

Hope that helps.

oooh. Yeah, that is probably it, since I got one of the halloween mails doubly – so I have 5 of them. I will check later when I am ingame, thank you!

Still, this is probably something that should be adressed :-)

If this is indeed what’s causing your problem as well, it should definitely be addressed — “official” e-mails not counting AS e-mails is definitely a bug! (And it would be nice if we could get some sort of official confirmation and/or thread merge to prove that the powers-that-be are reading and/or aware of the problem.)

In the meantime, though, knowing what’s causing the problem* allows us to work around it and start getting e-mails again.

*And what exactly IS at the root of the problem? Are “official” e-mails NOT supposed to count towards the ten e-mail “cap” (explaining why they don’t show up in the “counter”) but they DO accidentally count? Or ARE they supposed to count towards the cap but they’re missing the code that flags the counter?

It’s all guesswork at this point — deleting excess e-mails worked for me, but the other person’s “thanks, solved my problem” is a little vague. Did s/he solve it by deleting excess e-mails as well, or by some other way? We’ll have to wait and see if indeed this is what’s causing your problem as well, but if it winds up being the same solution to all three of our problems, it looks like we’ve found the answer!
