So, with the new megaserver change, there’s hardly any difference between servers. We all get into 1 flow, and that has it’s advantages. Not to go any further into this, i will give you a major problem with it.
Megaserver basicly connects people from all servers, but guild is still locked to it’s home server.
I’m a leader of a 300+ max upgraded guild, having mf and karma boosts running non stop. At least 10% of my active members aren’t Deso (my home) and they do not get that, access to vendors, Guild bank. They can’t see upgrades or anything when they open Guild panel.
This needs to be fixed as soon as possible, because if we stay Deso exclusive, the amount of people we can reach is drasticly diminished do to the fact that most of the playerbase on the map are not from Desolation.
I hope i will get a quick reply from someone at Anet, and hopefully a fix for this. If i wasn’t clear enough i will explain it better

When they announced mega-servers, they realized that world-bound influence/improvements would be an issue. At the time, they said they would like to change it, but they didn’t have anything scheduled.

In other words, there will not be a quick fix for this, even though (we were told that) ANet would like to be able to do so.

I speculate that it is not as easy to untangle this mess as it might seem on the surface. First, they’d have to solve the pure coding issue in which “world” is built into how influence is collected. Second, they’d have to figure out a way to reasonably combine existing influence and merit pools. Third, and probably the one that will slow them down the most, they have to figure out how to handle improvements that have already been build.

Suppose there is a guild like TTS, which has members on 10-15 different worlds per guild. They have collected enough influence to build guild banks on five of them. Because they were spread out, they also “sped up” the building process, which accrued additional influence costs. When the influence pools are combined, should they get a refund? If so how much?

What happens to the items that are in the 5 different banks? Does ANet require every guild to withdraw items first before linking/combining them? Should GW2 offer more space than the current 250-slot limit to make this easier? If so, should any guild get the upgrade automatically (based on how many banks they already have) or should each be required to make the necessary upgrades?

Maybe that sounds easy, but it’s easy to get that sort of customer service wrong, so I can imagine that ANet has said: let’s table this for now, until we are making other changes to the games guild mechanics and offer a comprehensive set of features.

ArenaNet stated in the initial Blog post that they hoped to have solved this issue by December 2014. Hoped.

Good luck.

I agree that it is tough to do, however Megaserver was added in may i belive, and now is the end of august. I wouldn’t care about anything on other servers, just the home one. I know it is difficult, but maybe Guesting will fix it for now. Having guesting = as being a member of the server, or at least guild, would help a lot, since it doesn’t serve a purpose anymore, other to get guild commendations ( that’s already integrated)

Good news: the feature patch will resolve all of the above (and addresses all of the issues I’ve identified above, except for guilds that spent extra to accelerate upgrades).
