Massive Lag
Same lag here as north european player playing on north american servers (and friends reporting also issues from Massachusetts to western states), client-reported lag being anywhere between 1100-5000 ms (and actual observed latency being 20 seconds at times) while the latency has usually been 190-200ms (normal overseas latency). Lag doesn’t seem to really affect movement (as squadmembers’ characters still seem to move normally without any warping or stuff), but it does affect chat, TP, inventory, skills and damage calculations, causing some funny visual issues when skill+damage calculations finally complete the client-server-client roundtrip and re-syncs with movement data.
Kitty’s also getting kicked to character selection when trying to move between maps (“Unable to connect to log-in server…yadayadayada.”) and can’t log in to character for some minutes when that happens. Yesterday launcher couldn’t even log-in the account to start the client for 15 mins.
mmoserverstatus.com reports US Auth 3 and EU Auth Servers 2 and 4 down, others working normally.
This lag is also affecting GW1. Otherwise Kitty’s internet and games work completely like usual.

Been having lag issues, getting DC’d, unable to purchase or sell of TP, and currently can’t zone into Guild Hall….
Lag is back again 3 day in a row…. spurts of packet loss and high pings as soon as my route hits NCSoft network in Dallas.

same here. been fine all day, then suddenly this.
packet loss happens only on ncsoft network (looked with pingplotter as soon as it started). not only that, but can’t log in to forums while it happens, and the api used by various sites becomes unresponsive too.

I hope it gets fixed soon. Love to get some more WvW in.
Can’t even play today….keep getting disconnected along with lag….
I wonder if it has to do with the suspensions for match manipulation.
definitely still issues with the ping. mine is around 4k on spikes. 3rd day in a row too, … fingers crossed
Figures, I get a new laptop so I can play the game again and it’s under a DDOS attack. Just my luck.
Thank you so much for the response.
signed off for the night due to all the lag members of mine from more than one guild were having the same issue and also logged off
Hellos Gw2 Forum,
This is my first time commenting on gw2 forums but I finally felt the incredible urge to express my discontent for the past 3 days while attempting to play the game. At this point, Anet should first somehow stop the DDOS attacks on their end, and then rollback everyone’s progress in the game to the state it was before the DDOS attacks happened because I think that’s the fairest way for people who complained about pvp/wvw pip loss along with not being able to obtain any raid loot in pve. I think this is the fairest way to solve all the discontent currently brewing in the Gw2 community by reverting back the game to it’s original state 3 days ago. This way everyone is back to where they were 3 days ago with no losses and no gains. I hope you guys will consider this seriously as an alternative peaceful solution after the DDOS attacks stop.
-Best wishes,
Mochi

Congrats on the first post! While I understand that this has been frustrating, I don’t agree with the roll back suggestion. Despite the numerous lag spikes and D/Cs, I managed to get about 35% map completion with a new character additionally gaining numerous mats, keys, and transmutation crystals in the process while this has been going on. If the last 3 days progress is rolled back, I would loose all of this. Not to mention the daily bonuses and time gated crafting that I did as well.
Yeah, I don’t see a rollback happening, between the times it happened I have achieved quite a bit as well, even a new character. Losing all that would honestly make the entire situation worse for most. But I agree this should be resolved already, if their host isn’t capable of mitigating ddos attacks they really have no business hosting their game.
Has the DDoS attacks been stopped?
Has the DDoS attacks been stopped?
The attacks over the last few days affected part of the internet’s backbone; it wasn’t a direct attack on ANet. Generally speaking, when Level3 or Telia have been affected by a directed attack, they haven’t commented publicly, so I don’t think we’ll ever know exactly what happened or why it stopped (whether they did something or the attackers simply stopped for the night, or it was something more complicated).
Yea so much lag last night had to leave wvw and still didn’t get much loot running temples. Seems to be only during NA prime that the lag starts. During offpeak hours gameplay is fine. Unfortunately there is no effective way to stop a ddos attack when its well coordinated.
Has the DDoS attacks been stopped?
Apparently not. It continues to happen daily around the PDT prime time hours. Consider this post a bump.
lol welcome to my world . From Australia never have under 400ms.
good to know the the DDOS attack is still happening. Massive spikes and dc’d twice in the past 20 minutes.
No dc’s here, just severe lag. Over 1200 ping and at one point it wasn’t even updating it was so lagged out. Took over a minute to switch maps.
Still getting occasional lag spikes. Also, even when I’m not getting lag spikes and my ping is in the normal range, everything feels slower somehow.
It’s like my skills are sticky. Like, when I go to swap kits on engineer, it holds on the original weapon for maybe 50ms extra. It’s not much, but it’s annoying and it affects gameplay. I need to be able to swap kits and use the flipped skill as fast as possible in order to be competitive. Eg. I see an attack incoming. I use Toolkit, then Gear Shield … except Gear Shield doesn’t go off because Toolkit was just a bit slow in activating. I’ve been playing engineer a long time, so I know the timings and it’s definitely been slower overall since this lag started.
