Dear All

I just wanted to make a post as I’ve recently loaded up the game to find a massive change in performance.

What I am seeing is that regardless of what settings are applied (lowest or maximum) the game refuses to reach above 14FPS.

There is nothing wrong with my PC as I have been looking through many other games tonight and get 80+fps on GTA V maxed out etc etc.

I can see that there are many other posts about this too so it would seem to be a genuine issue that has started to occur after a game patch.

What I have found though that is super interesting and I thought I should mention, is that the performance drop only occurs in third person.

Literally if I zoom in the closest possible in third person the fps is 14. The second I go into first person the fps jumps immediately to 75. I can just keep rocking backwards and forwards on my mouse wheel and it continuously changes as I do so.

I performed this test outside of Lions Arch on max settings.

This will not be the right way to word this at all, but in my opinion the issue seems to be that when the game has been patched there is now a bug in the code that makes your machine think that the game is 1000 times more demanding to run in third person than first person and has somehow become un-optimised to the most extreme level.

I know nothing about code and how this kind of technology works so I apologise for this un-educated assumption.

I just thought I would mention this on the forums as I had not seen anyone else mention it.

If anyone could do this third person to first person test and let me know if their PC acts like this too that would be greatly appreciated.

Also if anyone from the dev / forum team could let me know if this information can be passed on to the right people or if they are aware of this issue and are looking at how it can be fixed in an upcoming patch, that would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Tyler

I just tested this and saw no difference, first or third person.

All I can say is that the last patch probably messed up with quite a few of CPU compatibility, Do you use AMD or Intel? Friend of mine had this issue before last patch and he had Intel then last patch fixed his lag and me with my AMD suddenly start lagging all around, when I used to run around in WvW zergs or World bosses with almost no Fps issue.. now it´s more a slideshow at random and the game seems to demand way more CPU at random when it doesn´t need it.

It´s sad I can run Witcher 3 at high, MGS5 and GTAV, Fallout 4 and all that… but this game with DX9 has all this issues.

Thank you for the reply

My Specs are:

Intel I5 4670k 4.0Ghz

16GB RAM

3GB MSI GTX 780

Game is installed on a fairly quick SSD too.

I guess I’ll have to wait and see over the next couple of weeks and see if anything changes.

I’m sure it will. When I first changed over to Windows 10 it was about 3 weeks before I got my entire game collection working. There were about 20 games out of my 260 that I just had to wait for patches and workarounds.

Just the nature of technology like this I guess.

I do hope that one day GW 2 can get a massive optimisation overhaul like RIFT got.

Overall I’m happy with how it runs but it would be nice with a machine like mine to be able to get 50-60fps in Lions Arch maxed out where as since the game came out when i’m around the bank and running around your lucky to stay above 25fps.

Seems like the one thing that makes the fps tank on this game is just characters on screen.

If they could find a way to somehow optimise visible characters so they do not really impact frame rate ( Just like ESO does very well) that would be awesome.

Probably unrealistic especially with all the snazzy armor effects but I’m a bit of a performance nut so I can dream :P

Thank you again for replying
