I made the mistake of killing Vorpp because I set off an alarm, and so I couldn’t progress. So is this a glitch or are you really supposed to knock him out?

Thats a glitch. If you fail and set off an alarm it should trigger a phase where a bunch of inquest spawn in.

The pvp community reminds me of what Obi-kittenenobi describes Mos Eisley as from star wars.
