As title says, after battery and megalaser defend phases is done and people rush to Tequatl, the megalaser shoots Tequatl out of the sky, damaging him and allowing people to do extra damage to him… only after the Wednesday patch, the megalaser no longer does damage. This means burn phases have now become weakened, as Tequatl recovers with more health remaining until the next defence phase, and thus presenting a much greater risk of failure as players run out of time to defeat Tequatl.

My server generally finishes pre-patch Tequatl with around 4-6 minutes remaining. Now we’re lucky if we finish with 20 seconds or more on the clock.

Several servers I’ve talked to have been reporting the same thing, so it’s not just a server bug issue. o_O

^ This is on SBI by the way.

Tuesday, due to the timer change + living story patch, we had very minimum numbers (I’m not sure we even had overflow), but we killed Teq just like normal, with ~3min left on timer.

However, on Wednesday, we tried it twice, with similar numbers (but there was no sudden influx of inexperienced players over regulars), and failed both times. The first 25% went as expected, and battery defense was fine like normal, but stun phases were awful… we were short maybe 10-15% of his health every time. Additionally (and likely unrelatedly), we were surprised to have fish heads spawn during the last 25% on the first attempt, even though no batteries were failed. This has not occurred again.

Thursday we did have an overflow a few minutes before spawn time (but barely), and managed a kill with a few seconds left on the timer.

Friday (today) we again failed, and this time a number of us kept an eye on Teq’s health bar when the laser hit; the laser is consistently not damaging Teq.

I have also had one or two reports of people feeling like they’re doing less damage to Teq during stun without having changed their setup, but I can’t confirm that personally.

When TTS did Teq earlier tonight (about two and a half hours ago), it didn’t do this. It worked just fine. However, there have been bugs before tonight, off and on.

ETA: We were on Eradon Terrace for it, just FYI.

I was there with IceBlink on storm bluff isle. I should mention that IceBlink along with a handful of skilled commanders defeat Tequatl regularly and help us coordinate well. They would know first if there were issues with the Tequatl fight. We didn’t lose one laser defense and we did what we normally do. We even did great on the burn phases but nothing we did seemed to defeat Teq like normal. We failed even though we did everything right.

This continues to be an issue on SBI, I was at the Tequatl fight today and we finished about 5 minutes later than usual because of it (a large gap in a 15 minute fight).

Just to follow up with the results from our latest run on SBI.

To make sure that we weren’t all crazy and the megalaser did previously do damage, I went through some old YouTube Teq kills. In this video of a random Teq run from another server uploaded on January 31st, you can see (at 2:06) that Teq starts flying back with his health bar under the L in “Sunless”. The megalaser hits him and it’s brought down the first line in the “n”. Teq isn’t targetable (or even in frame) at this point, so it’s not damage sustained from the people on the ground (who appear to just be stacking might).

In comparison, here’s a series of images from our Teq fight tonight:

Teq in the air, megalaser charged

Teq coming into frame

Teq getting hit

Teq falling down

Teq reset in position

If you open up each of those in new tabs and make a flip book, you can see that his health bar never moves during the entire process. I also don’t see the actual megalaser blast, but I figure that’s probably just a minor graphical glitch on my end rather than something significant.

That little chunk of damage means less health taken off during the stun, leading to more time spent between battery defenses, which causes the clock to keep ticking, leading to our close failures.
