There’s a problem with the skill point at the Melandru’s statue in Cursed Shore, despite the fact that the Cathedral of Verdance is uncontested, approaching the statue triggers Melandru’s sorrow and there’s no way I can do the communing for the skill point.

Looks like both temples of Melandru and Grenth have to be uncontested for it to work.

It’s doable, you just have to sit still and eat the spikes until the statue gets bored.
Done two world completions since it became a problem (back when)

This is a long standing bug, some people are able to get the skill point with the help of invisibility or stealth. Ask a mesmer or theif to assist you. I have reported this too many times to count. I don’t think Anet really cares about bug fixing to be honest.
