Oh guys, that was intentional, don’t you know? Just like aetherized weapons not dropping from candidate trials after the patch to “fix” trials, all according to plan.
So this game truly has become arbitrary? What is the justified difference? A simple date of purchase? For once, at least try to be consistent please… You allowed WvW blueprints to be sold and bought back so people could sell their old ones, then allow us to sell our skins too.
LIke so many said, inactivity is being rewarded in this game. First with the people who ddin’t use their support tokens, now with the people who haven’t used their tickets. This is just a kick in the crown jewels for any active player, once again.
And oh, what happened to “we listen to the players”? I feel the answers here in this thread are pretty straight forward. And that’s only logical: there is NO justification for not allowing the skins that were bought previously to be sold whatsoever. Oh, and in case some words on the forum won’t convince you: seems I’m holding back on buying me some gems. I won’t support a company that makes this kind of decisions.
Another thing. By allowing the people that have claim tickets to sell their skins, you are allowing them to watch the trading post and pick the most valuable skin to get.
In other words, this is just another embarrassing oversight that anet (devs) made, and they are not going to take the time to fix it. They have proven time and time again that they are in over their heads. If it weren’t for the art team, this game would be no better than any other ftp game on the market.
This “one hand doesn’t know what the other hand’s doing” business is getting ridiculous. You load us up with support tickets, then “SURPRISE! hope you didn’t waste them all by actually participating in the election, cause now you can sell them!” You offer a ticket-for-skin trade and then go “SURPRISE! hope you didn’t waste the chance to sell them by actually redeeming the tickets!” You make it sound like the weapon skins are going to be one-time only and then go “SURPRISE! hope you don’t feel like you wasted tons of gold or real life money on horrible RNG black lion chests cause now you can just TP for the skin you wanted that was supposed to be gone forever!”
Get your kitten together Anet and coordinate for once. Or, actually rectify your mistakes and not just say “meh, we don’t feel like fixing that.”

If you held your SKIN, then you already cashed in your token for the skin you intended to use.
On the one had, you hadn’t actually used anything yet and thus probably didn’t want/like the skins and now have the option to sell them so that you can get some value for the token you were holding. On the other hand, you consciously decided to trade in your token for a specific skin because you wanted/liked it and are now upset that you can’t convert it into gold.

No you are wrong. We traded in our token because at that moment at least I assumed that the vendor would disappear within a certain amount of time and he did. It was only later that the black lion weapon vendor appeared selling the skins again. I for once didn’t want to end up with a useless ticket in my bank, so yes I decided to spend it at that time in the hopes of one day finding a use of the skin. And I haven’t used it so far because I failed to find a use for it, so your alleged difference with not using the ticket is kinda moot. If I haven’t used the skin yet, that means I don’t have need of it and by your logic, I should be able to sell it now.

But you missed the entire part where this is about the selling of the weapon skins, those people can sell their skins now for a lot of gold whereas we can’t and that’s just not fair. Those people can now have a look at the trading post and see which skins nets them the most amount of money, you think that is fair business? Leaving the option for the people with a ticket to get a skin should they feel like that in the future, I can agree with that(and that should have been communicated up front anyways, it wasn’t). But disable selling for EVERYONE, or enable selling for EVERYONE.

I got a token and I did not want any of the skins. I traded the token in and now I’m stuck with a skin I do not want. My only recourse would be to buy another skin and stack them to fix the issue.
And that’s really the great issue with this game as a whole. Instead of properly communicating how things work to their playerbase ArenaNet forces us to rely on guesswork. I’m really not sure why they’re so intent on running the game into the ground by acting like this.
Actually, the easiest fix would be to go ahead and leave them as is but make the black lion tickets work for ALL weapon skins. then have the trader give you a black lion ticket (or five if they want to make it equal the aetherblade skins) in exchange for a wintersday ticket, jade ticket or fused ticket. having all these different tokens is kind of dumb anyay.

No but it would give people the option to use their black lion tickets for ANY skin from any previous event and even out the prices on the TP. If, for instance, you don’t like the zodiac skins, you could decide on fused or wintersday instead. also you could get a duplicate of a skin you have and use the work around to stack them and make them sellable – thus fixing the problem of unsellable skins.
Also would benefit ANet as it would be further boost to sales of BL keys.
And the sooner they did it the sooner they would put a stop to people using the workaround for huge amounts of money.

Yes and there was no alternative but to assume at that point. We just made the wrong assumption and are now getting punished for it. They could have just as easily made the tokens worthless following the removal of the skin vendor.
This is not how you run a supposed AAA MMO and if they don’t understand the consequences of incessantly jerking around the playerbase like this… well, then I wish them all the luck in the world because they’ll surely need it.

True, in this game you can’t even rely on the actions of Anet as they are changed a few months later. Indeed, stupid me… It doesn’t justify the unfair treatment though.
I don’t have a dog in this race, having happily used every skin I’ve acquired, but this really sounds like a lie. It’s almost completely arbitrary. The only thing that I can think of is that they’re looking at down the line, when it might be possible to separate stats from skin; in that case, yeah, the stripped skins should be account bound. But this is a completely arbitrary thing that’s going to unfairly affect a tiny number of players. Neither the skin holders nor the ticket holders had any reason to expect to be rewarded. Rewarding one without rewarding the other is just baffling and dumb.
I would like to know why i as a customer bought a defective item and others paid money for an item they can sell, why am i being left out while other customers can do what ever they want with the same item?

Same here the Vendor DID disappear but then reappeared who would expect that when they were saying these are once off chances… so i used my ticket, if id known this garbage was going to happen i wouldn’t have used it, most likely i wouldn’t have even purchased one, what a double standard this is..i’m really mad at this and feel scammed badly by this company..

I redeemed my extra ticket because I thought the vendor was going away. I picked a skin I didn’t like too much either because I felt rushed and didn’t want to waste the ticket. Then I find out about the skins vendor. I could of had more time to pick a better one. Oh well.
Now I find out the skins can be sold. Can’t sell mine. I feel like I’m being punished for doing the right thing. Claiming the ticket before it went to waste. Annoyed.
Off topic, but I thought these skins were exclusive and limited items that were earned through that RNG system. You left lucky to get one. Now people with gold can just buy them. I put in some real cash to get that fused ticket. I feel like a real fool now thinking I was RNGing for something “special”. I put a lot of time in getting my Fractal skins. Some skins were acquired through 3 hour runs with bad pugs. If they put them on the trading post as well for any rich player who didn’t put in the time to earn them, I’m just going to be really annoyed.

No kidding. First they nerf contents of bags already acquired and now they do this. At least they had enough common sense to revert the karma nerf for a day.
I don’t think I’ve ever played an MMO this poorly handled before. You can’t even trust the core systems to function anymore what with minis being removed from the bank. What’s the point in even trying to progress when ArenaNet could just revert all that progression in a single patch because they felt like it? Trust is important and I’ve got none left for this company.

That isn’t the issue here. The issue here is that people who kept their tokens are being rewarded for not using them when we had no way of knowing that these tokens were going to be redeemable later on.
They need to either make them all account bound or make them all not account bound. Anything else would be completely unfair.

Actually I didn’t find out until after I got the skin that they were account bound. I always intended to sell it and was disappointed I couldn’t.
But that’s neither here nor there, really. The issue is this: I didn’t do anything wrong. I purchased the skin with my ticket as Arenanet intended me to. Because I didn’t want to use the skin, and in hopes that it would eventually become sellable, I never used it. Now, Arenanet is allowing people who did something unintended – that is, never redeem the ticket – to now take advantage of that fact to make money. In the case of the fused weapons, a lot of money. While it is true that I haven’t lost anything in the sense that nothing was taken away from me, you can’t tell me not to be a little upset to pull up the trading post and see that the item I hung on to in case this very thing happened can’t be liquidated into 250 gold like others can. Other people are being rewarded for their patience and I am not, over a minor technicality. It’s not fair, and it’s upsetting tome as a customer to be treated differently – however unintentionally – than others.

I can understand why people wouldn’t want such skins to be tradable. When they spent real money or gold trying to obtain a ticket, it was directly stated that the skins were exclusive, limited time items. ArenaNet has clearly listened to player feedback on this issue and has changed their stance, which I think is a good thing for the game and the community. But I also think that punishing people that supported them isn’t the best way to go about making that change. Providing a mechanism that lets players remove the account bound status on unused skins is, imo anyway, a must.

Well as far as the fused weapons, the exclusivity was either implied or outright stated, which led myself and others to purchase lots of black lion chests in order to get one of those skins.
Guess what I’ll never be purchasing from the gem store again…

A lot of us are in that boat. The communication on this from ArenaNet has and continues to be awful. I’d like to hope that they’re quietly working on a fix but that seems unlikely.
This actually makes a lot of sense. People who redeemed their tokens to get a weapon in the past already knew it couldn’t be traded. The whole intention of the redemption was to have a weapon they could use, not sell. It wouldn’t be fair for them to get a weapon was bound, and then to unbind it for sale with the update.
I just wish someone would address my posts… = ( Im not whining, not complaining not even UPSET… simply looking for any info on why THE SWORD OF THE ZOIAC SKIN is the ONLY skin of the ZODIAC set that is ACCOUNT BOUND on pick up…
There are LOTS of ZODIAC skins for sale, the skins ARE meant to be such… but try and find ONE sword of the zodiac skin… there are none, and Im assuming that’s casue its just like mine…bugged and account bound.

I agree that there is no difference at all between having an unused skin that was previously redeemed and having an unused ticket still to redeem for a weapon skin in order to sell. I’m sorry, but Anet really needs to reconsider this – supply is of no concern – let the market decide. (unless of course Anet is going to reintroduce them into the RNG box of ….)

While I can’t speak for anyone else when I redeemed my token I did so because I figured they’d make the token worthless otherwise since nothing suggesting otherwise was ever communicated. I did not desire the weapon skin for myself. A guild member on the other hand did desire it and I stashed it for her hoping that they at some point would come to their senses and make the skins tradable. Now they finally did except… well, yeah.
There is nothing fair about making your players have to guess how something is going to work the next week. Those people who did acquire the skins with the intent to use them did so and those skins are now glued to weapons and as such not even a factor here. The only decent thing to do is to make all the skins tradable. The question is if they will do it.

Yes same here, this burnt me bad, i’ve been pretty upset with how Guildwars 2 has been for ages and this comes along, never spending another cent in this game, i’m tired of being some sub standard beta tester in a game i paid a good deal for..

Only newly obtained skins in select sets are tradable. In the past, we intended those skins to be account-bound and not tradable. After the change, these skins will remain account-bound and not tradable. We will continue to monitor the value of those skins, but at this time, there is no plan to make tradability retroactive.
So people who kept their tokens as opposed to getting weapons and putting them in their bank have an unfair advantage? How is this fair? This is a horrible decision.
I also wish they would reconsider this. I have several problems with what they have decided.
- If they wanted them to be exclusive then they should stay that way. If not, then not. I don’t care one way or the other if they would actually stick to what they say and not make loopholes that not everyone can participate in. I’d certainly love to be able to make gold off of the skins I have had sitting in my bank all these months that were leftover from my mistaken attempt to get the minis. The money I spent on Christmas for that left me with a foul taste in my mouth and nothing but regret and disdain for the money grabbing Anet practices. However..I’m getting off track.
ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, Anet! Seriously! Don’t do this half one way half another. Some people can sell theirs and some can’t. It’s crap. And don’t say well, those who traded in their tickets before can’t do it, cuz they can too IF they have enough gold to get a skin and stack them OR had enough to stack in the first place. The rest of us are out of luck. Ridiculous excuses for more things they implemented before they fully thought of the consequences.
Either let us sell them or don’t. Not let those who can afford to sell them while the rest of us don’t get to. Either stick to what you say and only let those who purchased them after the patch sell them or change it so that those working around that system aren’t the only ones who can sell.

Are you sure? Other people have reported them as tradeable. If it is in your bank take it out and try again.
I imagine they will make the weapon skins bought previously tradeable exactly one day after I use my saved Fused Dagger Skin on some random dagger for my new Necromancer in frustration.
