Hi everyone,

I have noticed an issue with mesmer greatsword abilities. Mirror blade and phantasmal berserker do not cancel my auto attack. If I am auto attacking with greatsword 1 and then attempt to cast another ability, the auto attack will finish its entire cast animation before the other ability will be used. It has become really awkward to use. I believe this is related to my account since my other mesmer friends are not experiencing the same issue. So for now I will just be running a troll bunker mesmer build in pvp.

If anyone else is experiencing this problem or knows how to fix it please let me know!

I’ve done some further testing and it appears the issue is only on my main (human female). There is no issue with the greatsword casting on my other mesmers.

If it’s only happening on your human, could it be solely an animation issue? That is, perhaps on screen you aren’t stopping the auto-attack, but the game thinks you are. Since there are no ‘human’ traits (and no race-specific skills in PvP), it seems unlikely that a bug would affect only ‘your’ human and no other mesmer.

It’s worth attempting to “repair” the database:

This is known to fix various other visual issues, although mileage varies. Also, depending on your hard drive and download speeds, this can take take anywhere from 10 minutes to more likely 30 minutes to less likely an hour or more. A good thing to start right after you sign off.

Regardless, I’d also use the /bug report in game the next time it happens and file a ticket with Customer Service (follow the links a the top left). The first gives the QA team hard data that they’d need to troubleshoot (but helps you not at all); the second puts you in contact someone who can walk you through various other troubleshooting possibilities.

I tried the repair but I am still experiencing the issue. I made another human mesmer and the bug does not occur. So it seems to only be on the one character. I’ve put in a bug report and a ticket.

Ok, after messing around a bit more I noticed I didnt have auto cast selected on the auto attack. I selected it and now there is no issue. I have no idea why that should affect the other skills.
