Mesmer Temporal curtain not stacking
This is a pretty annoying bug, not only does it not stack with any other swiftness in the game (including other mesmers temporal curtains) But it negates superior swiftness effects that other people try to put onto you (e.g, if you have 3 seconds of swiftness from Temporal curtain and then a guardian uses ‘Retreat!’, you will be stuck at 3 rapidly dwindling seconds even though you should have gotten 20 or more seconds of swiftness from the guardian.
I was rather hoping out of all the mesmer bugs being fixed in this new update, this would have been the big one.
Currently, it’s “half-bugged”.
If you put Temporal Curtain down first and get the swiftness, it will stack with other swiftness. However, it does not work the other way around.
Anet, please make it so that it works FULLY and stacks along with all other swiftness in the game.
Confirming that its still bugged the way Phloww describes it.
Been a while, will this be fixed some time?
I don’t know if this is bugged, but it’s consistent with stacking duration for swiftness from similar sources: Guardian GS-3, mesmer focus-4, and I believe the combo of a Blast finishing a Lightning Field. — each of these grants swiftness, but does not add to an existing duration.
I want to bump this thread, because this bug has been bothering me for a long time now, and so far, nothing has been done about it. It’s not even been acknowledged.

Ya, it is very very annoying. Sometimes it doesn’t even work at all

bigger “mesmer fish” to fry…..but yeah, it would be nice if this was fixed too.

Hi!
The topic almost says it all. The Mesmer spell – Temporal curtain (Focus offhand, skill #4) does not stack (in duration, or in any other way) with any other swiftnesses.
I can see how this could be intentional, so you cant walk trough your own spell multiple times to gain a lot of swiftness. but it is still a bit annoying when you are trying to run in a group as fast as you can (like in WvW commando raids), and your spell just goes to waste.
If it is intended – so be it. If it is a bug, I would love to see a fix.
Funny, I came here to report this exact thing just now. If you’ve the speed boost form TC, nothing at all can stack with it. It ignores any and all other speed boosts, even those from other TCs.

Actually, it’s the other way around: if you have the speedboost from TC, you can get extra speedboosts, but if you have a speedboost up, you won’t get anything extra from TC.

LOL!! It has never stacked for me….I always thought that was normal. I was kinda bummed since I notice Guard and Warrior swiftness buffs stack. I never knew it was supposed to stack.

Hah… after 4 months this still works this way. Could we just get a confirmation that this is acknowledged as a bug and/or intended?
I cannot believe it, THIS IS STILL PERSISTENT, WHY?
Yep, still bugged. Seems when other classes put down an aoe swiftness, such as guardian, this stacks correctly with any existing swiftness you may have. But for some reason mesmers temporal curtain wont apply swiftness if you have any existing swiftness at all.
I heard rumors of this was done to stop players running over it several times and stacking swiftness, but this doesnt happen with other skills such as the guardians swiftness. Can this not have the same logic applied…??
After receiving stacks of speed while playing WvW, our team began running for our target. Laying down temporal curtain for the few of us creating a tail for our group stripped the stacked speed buffs, and reset the timers of those stacks. I won’t use temporal curtain except in a solo-spell mode.
Looking at this thread reminds me of making bug reports for GW1. A lively one sided conversation with concrete. I hope this has changed. I hope this speed-stacking problem is at least acknowledged, if not repaired.
working as intended, confirmed by dev.

4. Temporal Curtain. Broken since release.
- Will not stack swiftness at all. To get swiftness, you have to stop, wait before swiftness wears off, and ONLY THEN walk over swiftness.
Solutions:- In this thread – limit number of buffs per user, max applicable swiftness duration.
- Revert to swiftness stacking when passed over multiple times.

4. Working as intended. Good topic for debate on changing in the future.
Someone say game crash must be related to OOM
when you read the log it’s not related to that whatsoever…
Definition of swifness, where it says that stacks on duration, it is not debatable, so why a skill that provides swiftness is not stacking duration? to me its a clear broken mechanic on that skill.

Completely agreed, If it’s working as intended and shouldn’t stack, so the tooltip should tell so. Even so, why can’t Temporal Curtain stack swiftness when all other skills that grants swiftness in the game can? When it comes to be fast or run, it sux being a mesmer…
