"Message Supressed" when mailing items
You could try transferring them via the guild bank. Apart form that, nope, it’s just an annoying silly system that does nothing to get rid of spammers and such but makes life annoying for ‘legitimate’ players.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
This countermeasure should not be trigger when sending messages to people who are in your friends list or same guild. If a players encounters a spammer in either group, he can easily handle the situation himself.
I assume it would be easy to modify this script to IF/THEN check for these variables.
Thanks for the tip on the guild bank, I forgot about those. (Just returned from a 9 month break)
I agree the countermeasure shouldn’t trigger when sending to friends, guild members, party members, or at least there should be SOME way of whitelisting senders. But there isn’t.
I can see the problem with your suggestion. If your account is compromised, the hacker can add anyone to your friends list (presumably the holding/pass-off account), white-list it, then still snaffle all your stuff in a few seconds anyway. Unless they’re hacking around that of course. But I digress.
While the mail suppression is as frustrating as wrangling fluffy kittens at dinner time, it can put a certain kind of brake on this action.
The guild bank is the better way to go with trusted guild mates.
